Interesting, what is this a 25-50' tower you built, built out of steel or wood, how does one build a tower, is this a wireless tower? Get a picture from down below looking up at the tower.

100' steel tower, combination of 50 of heavy section on the bottom (surplus aviation tower) and lightweight Rohn 25 on top. It it for wireless internet. Ran 2300' of #8 line up the mountain for a power supply for the radio. HOW do you build one ? One bolt at a time :D

How do you build a tower? They just bolt together. Rohn 25 sections come in 10 foot lengths and weigh 45 pounds each. You will need a good climbing belt, wrenches, good boots with stiff soles (tower rungs hurt your feet otherwise), a "gin" pole and a rope twice the length as the tower is tall , and preferably a good man on the ground with some experience. I have seen people build towers themselves, but I don't recommend it. Now days with the proliferation of cell phones many business will let you have their two way radio towers just to get rid of them if you will safely take them down. A few days ago a friend of mine that I often work with taking down and putting up towers stacked all of his sections and counted them and he had 500 foot of Rohn 25 tower sections. You can stack a Rohn 25 tower to 190 feet if properly guyed and lightly loaded. Like everything else it is all easy if you know how. :)

100', holy high tower batman, I thought maybe 50' at most then put together on ground and somehow stand it up. I hope you had some sort of body harness on while trying to bolt these section together in an awkward position, I can see it now, up 75' then oh darn drop the wrench again.........

I would climb up 10 feet, pee my pants, come back down.
My dairy farmer neighbor would climb his concrete 80 ft. silo by grabbing the bands which are spaced about every 6-7 ft.
Not me!

I got out and about today, took country roads around west Lincoln County and into southern Burke. Wheat looks great, some corn is up and everything is a nice green.

Rick, I love the old truck. That thing is extremely rare!!!! First it's hard to find a GMC of that age. Second, almost impossible to find a long bed!!!! Thanks for the great pics. I like your varied scenery!!!!

It just screams "Restore Me!". I attend a lot of car shows, and you see will quite often see a 47-55 Chevy, and occasionally a GMC, but I don't think in 25 years of car shows, I ever saw a long bed like that on a Chevy or a GMC. I'm guessing that's like a 51 or 52 model, but really don't know. The later models had the push button door handles and added the wind wings in 1951.
