bought this Cole planter for $100 with the cat 1 hitch for $100 a couple weeks ago. Been trying to find a few more so I can make a 3-4 row planter.

Went to a different TSC and on the way out saw this one for $20!!! Needs a cap.

Paying for it and the gal says they have one more in the box for $100 if I want it.

Best price I could find on them was $529 PER ROW!!

THAT is amazing. I have never seen one of those at TSC up here. I saw your first picture and thought "I never find deals like that". Then saw the second picture and price and my mouth dropped open. The third one made me cry a little.

The second one was kind of hidden behind the exit. After I bought them I had her check another store to see if they had any.

Cole Planter Company: Precision Planting Equipment Since 1900

This is the Cole web site. Based upon some changes with this company I would suggest buying what you want in plates and any other wear part it may have. I have full size planters of theirs that is many years old and they made great planters. They were bought (imagine that) and the product line dropped, change and so forth so I have been told. This looks like it still in production by the current owners.

To me if TSC was selling for $100 it was to clear out a product they will no longer carry. But that is my thought. kt

I would say that one of the first things you will need to do is fabricate some scrapers to keep moist soil buildup off those metal wheels. Looks like a good farm auction is in store to find a nice tool bar to mount all those planters on also. Really good buy, but as proclaimed, TSC must be dropping the line or maybe the manufacturer is for them to take that kind of hit on it.

You got a steal of a deal!!!!!!
I had one and never used it, sold it for twice what I paid for it and was happy. They are solidly made.
You bought three for less than I sold mine for. You must be living right.

Cole is actually out of business and was taken over by Covington Planter a few years ago. Don't worry, however, these are great planters for small seeds. I have the larger "12MX" with dry fertilizer hoppers and really like them.

Great buy for you. Perhaos the buy of the decade. Maybe buy a lottery ticket....

You got yourself quite a bargain! They do in fact sell for well over $500. Those must be "old stock". Cole offers a toolbar mount for that planter. They're often ganged as multi-row units.

I've got a variation of that unit, sold as a walk behind "push planter" for gardening. Same row unit, just a few different brakets and such to bolt wooden handles on it.

They're EXTREMELY accurate, able to plant even the tiniest of seed, and very durable. The only down side is there's no variation in seed spacing. You get what you get..... Some plants will need to be thinned after emergence.

Still, you paid less for TWO rows than you could have for ONE!
