Scraper for my B21

Hi All,

I purchased a my B21 (new) in 2001 with the backhoe and mower. Several of you folks were helpful with advice (thanks a bunch--spending that kind of money it's nice to have someone other than the dealer giving advice).

I needed a box scraper to go with it, but having seen the cheap box my neighbor bought get bent and beat and bounced around, I decided to save up and get a good one. I looked at Gearmore's industrial version (2g2) and liked it immediately, but with top and tilt, it comes in at around $3,300. Before I make that purchase, I thought I would check with some of you more experienced hands online.

I have been told that I could go with anything from 48" to 66" in width. I rented a B21 before I bought mine and it drug a 60" box around in my soil (mostly pasture on decomposed granite) with no problem. Can anybody come up with a reason to go bigger/smaller? Does anyone know of a similar quality box/manufacturer that deserves a look?

I use a 60" box with my B21 and it does just fine. I would not go any smaller or you will not cover the rear tire tracks. Figuring that Top and Tilt runs about 1000 – 1200 it sounds like you are looking at a mighty expensive box blade. It is most likely very heavy and well built so it may be worth it. Just my opinion but with our little tractors I think you will run out of traction long before you get the benefits out of that super built box blade. I am using a Howse box that I think cost $450 or so and it has held up for the last 5 years fine. The extra money would buy a couple of other implements if you need anything else. Of course your use may be different than mine so let us know what you end up getting.
