Is there a real safety issue with the screen that is in between the cab and the bed on the RTV? Besides rattling a bit, it is almost in the way at times. Sometimes I'd like to be able to reach stuff in the bed without getting out and walking to the back.

I noticed that the brackets holding it in place are welded to the roll bar. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I was just wondering if anyone has taken it out or tried to make it stop rattling? Also, if there is any real big safety issue as to why I woudln't want to take it out? I shouldn't complain about it rattling too much though. I really can't hear it over the stinking front drive shaft rattle! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I took out my plastic Kubota drop in liner and had Rhino Liner sprayed in the bed as well as in the foot area of the RTV. I'm well pleased with that! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It really quieted things down a bunch. Unfortunately, that only makes the drive shaft rattle more audible!

Hey! Anyone looking for a very slightly used Kubota brand plastic drop in liner for the RTV??! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'd make someone a real deal on it rather than just put it up on the shelf with the spare set of wheels and tires for the RTV, and the spare set of wheels and tires for the Rhino. I'm collecting too many "spares". /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I "don't think" the cage is structural nor part of the ROPS. I'll check but I believe it's for protection from material being loaded into or hauled in the box.

Now... you'll have to be careful that Dargo doesn't go flying into the front seat on an abrupt stop (or just to ride next to you).

I thought we all fixed that cage rattle last year... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifYou didn't fix yours? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I might be interested in your liner. I can put it on my shelf right beside my spare tires/rims as well as the entire cargo box since I ripped that off also.

Hey Dargo,
I'm interested in your liner. What condition is it in and how much do you want for it? What's you zip code so I can get an idea on shipping? Thanks,

Fred

I took the screen out last winter. I have the enclosed cab and had a problem with the window fogging up in cold weather. The screen didn't allow me to remove the frost from inside the window so it had to go. The brackets that are exposed after the screen is removed have sharp edges so I covered them up with some short pieces of black insulated foam for water pipes. I don't plan to carry any large loads in the bed that could slide into the cab so I don't see any safety issues.

Edit - The screen looks like it could make a good BBQ grill this summer.

Brian:

How do we fix the screen rattle? I have a bungee cord hooked on the screen to goes to the passenger side grab bar to stop the rattle. However I have to remove it when I have a passenger.

That sounds like a perfect fix to me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For most of us, just tightening the mounting bolts to the ROPS addressed it. I believe some put rubber washers between the bracket on the ROPS and the cage which also corrected the problem.

Hmm, I was sort of thinking that I'd just weld it up solid with my new MIG welder. It not only would quit rattling, but it would make sure nothing came through to the cab. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously though, I have tightened the bolts. I could add a rubber "washer" to them as well, but I don't think that would work. I think on mine it is the actual screen part itself rattling. The bungee cord would put tension on the screen and likely stop it from rattling, but I rarely (if never) get to drive it by myself.

By the way, that black tool box from FL_Cracker is the cat's meow! It is very well made, and, it doesn't rattle. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I think this screen thing can be fixed; or removed. I'm now just sort of down to the drive shaft rattle problem. I'm really disappointed in Kubota stalling to get most of us out of warranty. As I'd mentioned before, there isn't a driveline shop around that can't fix the problem. The problem is that I don't feel that I should have to pay for their design flaw. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Dargo (and Keybal),

If the rattle is in the cage itself, here's what I would consider trying.

Remove the cage from the ROPS and lay on a flat surface.
Optionally, do an inspection to see if you can find where exactly it rattles.
Using a rubber mallet (or other quasi-implement of destruction) pound on the framing where the cage material is encased in the framing.

It sounds like the framing wasn't properly squeezed over the cage material.

Glad to see you like your tool box. I love mine and can't see how I could get by without it now. It holds everything you could want and can be out on the ground in two minutes...

It also makes the RTV look good as well. Looks, works good, what more can we ask for???????

Hang in there with your drive shaft. Kubota is a GOOD company but they are also BIG and the wheels turn slow. They will do the right thing in the long run. Wait and see, ORANGE will stand up and treat you right.......

Brent:

I you go to the discussion called "Warrenty" here, it might help. (sorry, I don't know how to insert a hyperlink)

As I said, someone from Kubota called me after I sent an email to them. My dealer called witin ten day and told me he had the replacement parts. It might help.
