I heard about the stuff but wasn't convinced. A friend friend who's a master mechanic with mercury marine and has owned a larger dealer in my city for 30 plus years recommended the stuff to my dad about. I still wasn't convinced but I started to use it a bit anyways. Then my dad gave me Honda 2200 generator, about 1988 vintage. It had been rebuilt a few years ago by a neighbour who really didn't know what he was doing. Didn't work right after the rebuild so dad bought a much larger generic to replace it. So it sat for another 5 years or more. So I tried it but didn't start. Drained the old gas and refilled. Started almost right away but ran like crap. I pulled the carb off, it was full of varnish. I cleaned what I could which wasn't much. I don't have a solvent tank. Reassembled it but now added seafoam to the tank. Still ran like crap. It would run OK with a load but really rough at idle. I left it over night. Next day dissemble the carb again, but now the varnish was mostly just falling and pealing right out of the carb. I guess sitting over night with the seafoam really help. Now I'm a believer. Cleaned again as best I could again. Reassembled it and it runs much better but still now perfect. It still doesn't kick down to really low idle. One day I'll work on it again. Anyways in my eyes seafoam really works.

I bought my first can a few days ago. Put it in my Kawasaki Mule Diesel, that I have had no end to fuel problems with lately. However, I also changed the fuel filter for the first time in twelve years. Found a bargain on a filter for $60.00! It has been colder then heck, and the machine has run fine. Oh, I also topped it up with taxed diesel (as my tank is fresher and filtered, plus Lucas extreme cold additive. Therein lies the delema. There are usually several factors involved and you never really know what affected what.

In general, I too HATE these snake oil products. Oh, I was dismayed because the can didn't say exactly how much fuel it treats, only from such an amount to such an amount. Maybe it's a momeopathic (sp?) Remedy!

I use 1 glug per gallon of fuel. It don't get more scientific than that.;)

I believe one of the differences between regular gas and premium gas is zylene(petroleum solvent thinner).Premium supposedly has 10% to 20% or 12oz. to 24oz.of this carb cleaning stuff for free.
