I've spent hours trying to come up with a new source for 1/4" x 17' single use poly strapping with a zip locking mechanism...

It's something that has been used around the Christmas Tree business for years... lightweight... easy to use, super strong and cheap.

Contacted shipping and packing material suppliers like U-Line with no luck... they sell the poly buy use buckles or crimp seals...

The ones we have been using work like a zip tie... and they are fast and secure...

Anyone recognize or better yet, know of a source where we can buy in quantity?

They would come in a box of 1000 and for around $300... so 30 cents each and two were perfect for busy Christmas Tree lots... no need for the kids to know how to tie knots... kind of like a giant zip tie.

As a plus they were really strong.

You could be right... for all I know they came out of India or China or somewhere similar...

Never have seen these.

It's a little composite lock that works like a zip tie with two small bits of metal inside.

It's one way and made of some type of plastic... never had a bad one or one break.

Just two "Through" slots to make a loop and then cinch tight.

The last couple of years we used a lot of them at Christmas tree farm and I was really impressed... can't unravel and nothing hard to scratch paint.

Little did I know just how unique they were...

I sent the pictures to several large national packaging suppliers starting with U-line, Global, Allied, etc... and so far no one has seen one...

To get the image I placed it on my scanner at home and turned the locking part sideways...

No name are marking anywhere and none on the cartoon...

A friend gave me a spool that probably contains over 5000 ft. (12" diam X 8" wide)
What I have is 1/4" wide and I can use simply as cord and tie knots.
Problem is I have no clips to use with it so I simply tie knots.
I do know that the clips are wire kinda shaped like a "W".
\My local lumber yard uses the 1/2" version for folks to roof load smaller purchases.
