I know I was probably over the 50 hours, but getting a contractor to change the oil in my generator was just not going to happen. I tried to compensate as best I could by using Mobil 1, extended service oil. (15,000 mile change interval)

Even if the whole thing is trash & Sears won't repair it, I am still money ahead, and have learned to buy a Honda-powered generator next time.
Dave,
Well, in that case I'm even more surprised that the engine seems to have died this soon. I don't know if that particular engine is the good industrial one, but I'm guessing probably not.

Dave, do you know if the oil you used was rated for the air cooled 4 cycle engine ? All oils aren't the same. Air cooled engines run at higher temps & require an oil blended for air cooled engines. That could have been what led to the problem on the engine side .Saying that the oil you used was rated for 15,000 mile drains suggest that you used a motor oil for autos. in this engine. Mabe sears will repair under warranty Good luck
