Got notification by e-mail re my order. Then I got an e-mail from the parts lady that they have the part and that I can pick it up any time. Gotta run out in the morning. Will plan to stop by there and pick it up on the way back.

It was handier today to have the button taped down, because I'd shred/chip and then move and shred/chip some more; thinning out some persimmon trees. With the button pulled up, I need one of those 4110 or 4115 or 790 seat support rods. So, when stationary, hopefully I can use the 4110 button on my 4010 in the up position and operate my Mac or (maybe future) generator. When needing to move around, I'll tape it down like I have it now.

Will let you know if the 4110 button works. Looks the same in the pictures. Figure it's just the button that does the working both ways. Connections ought to be the same.

Putting the seat back down on the wire support allows the operator to see the tach and intrument panel, reach the throttle from either side of the machine, etc., HST or not....

So, I clicked on Order Part. Then things got confusing. Will the dealer notify me? It didn't take me to a place to input a credit card or anything.

When you register at JDParts, you pick a local dealer as your main go-to dealer. Then, when you order parts, they end up at the parts counter for you to pick-up or the dealer can ship them to you. There is no place to pay online, payment is made at the dealer.

Pretty cool IMHO, the parts pages you are looking at is the same one the counter guys at the dealer use, and you only have to go the dealer once instead of twice.

I always print out the shopping cart list with the prices, sometimes my dealer will try to charge more than the online price /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif so I whip the paper out on them and refuse to pay more than the stated online price. Of course, once their price was lower than online so the paper stayed in my pocket /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The whole system is very confusing at first, but once you understand the logic and how to navigate it, You will see it is the best parts site of any manufacturer.

Well, it didn't work. Part #s M800051 and M803327 are obviously the same. There are 4 prones on the electrical connection. One pair must connect to the part when you pull the button up and connect to nothing on the 4010. Will have to look at electrical diagrams for the 4010 and 4110 to figure it out. Would think all one has to do is to connect the a pair of prongs for the button to work both ways. Need the wiring diagrams to figure out which 2 to connect.

Worked with a piece of plastic taping the button down again this afternoon. It came loose twice. Had to run a tension cord up to hold the seat down, too.

Ralph, from the sounds of it I bet the hydro in the 4010 is different from the 4110 and 4115 also. Your hydro filter is located in a different place and I believe you said your screen was located some place also. Curious because I thought the only difference was hp and tires.

Good Luck

Ralph, I have the diagram for the 4110/4115, But would have to fax it. I cannot save the one page from the CD to email. I can only print it.

Are there 4 wires to your switch?

Yes, the 4110 switch is identical to the 4010 switch. The wires are the same 4 different colors. What I'd like to know is which pair serves which part of the switch. You'd think the pairs come together somewhere because the button down does the same as the button up.

Ralph: I am confused. If the switch is identical, then you should be able to pull up on the switch THEN engage the PTO from beside the tractor. If this function is intended to work on the 4010, then this is how it would work:

1) PTO selector lever set for rear PTO
2) Tractor running in neutral
3) Seat up
4) Lift switch under seat
5) Engage PTO switch on dashboard
6) Lower seat (if support is present)
7) Adjust throttle
8) Use implement

What gives? I'm not tracking your troubleshooting very well. If it doesn't funtion this way, it wasn't designed to and it's not likely a bad switch if your manual is as clear as you say (the on-line manual is non-existent, but you know that).

Pete,

Apparently, the 4010 is not designed with the same electrical connects off the seat button wires as the 4110/4115/790. My manual clearly says that the PTO cannot be used without someone sitting on the seat.

Here's what I've done:

1) PTO selector lever set for rear PTO
2) Tractor running in neutral about 1300-1500 rpm
3) Seat up
4) Lift switch under seat
5) Engage PTO switch on dashboard

Engine dies or I have to quickly push in the PTO switch to stop it from dying.

Can't do # 6 because the 4010 has no seat support, as none is needed if you have HST only.

6) Lower seat (if support is present)

So, I've either taped the button down or tied the seat down with a tension cord attached to the back of it and done the last 2 steps:

7) Adjust throttle
8) Use implement

I bought a 4110 seat button (part # M803327 vs the M800051 shown for the 4010). It looks identical and has identical 4 wires and same plug for the wires and behaves the same.

The dealer gave me an 800 # to call JD about this. I plan to.

I've ordered the tech manual on CD for my 4010, and Kenny gave me the wire colors for the up and down positions on his 4110. So, I should be able to do some continuity tests to verify which wire pairs I've dealing with for sure. After checking the wiring diagrams in the tech manual CD, I'll jumper across the appropriate 2 pairs of wires and have the switch working in the up position.

Will let you know when this all happens, for the benefit of any other 4010 owners who land on this thread.

The 800 # the dealer gave me was for the tech manuals. Don't know who to contact regarding asking them why they screwed up on the 4010 PTO seat button.
