I mowed for about 4 hours yesterday ( nh 1920 5' kk hog ). Got about 9 acers mowed down good out of one of my pastures. .. well I can't call it a pasture yet... it has lots of grass.. but also lots of broadleaf weeds.. and a good size patch of mixed grass/weeds/briars... maybee 1 acre or so.

I just keep mowing it every month, and it slowly looks like it is becomming more and more grass, and less and less weeds.

It is a 100% improvement over how i bought it a year ago.. which was just stemmy weeds and briars. After a few discings and seeding with pen. bahia, it is slowly comming along. Guess I need goats...

I like the seat time.. but I've got enough to do over on the other smaller property.

Right now my chickens have taken to becoming agressive with each other.. have lost 1 this weekend, with 2 more with injuries they may not recover from....( chicken politics I guess.. ) go figure.

Anyway... how is everybody else.

Sounds like my weekend minus the chicken politics Soundguy! I must have spent six hours mowing. First all the perimeters and along the drive. Then the field to the south of our house that we sort of consider lawn. Just like you said, with more cuttings (bush hog) it's looking more like grass. We'll never keep it as finished lawn but it's nice to have it tidy looking. Then the field to the north. Still got some ruts from house construction so it's a pretty rough ride. I got some front weights so I could mow with the loader off. It was bouncing around too much for my tastes. This fall I'll disc it all down again to smooth it out.

After mowing I took the hog off, reinstalled the FEL and backhoe (maybe 15 minutes total /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) for some other projects. Wife's been wanting the swingset relocated. Seperated the beam/a-frame from the tower. Moved each with the FEL. Wasn't sure it would pick the tower but it did. Raised it up about a foot and drove r-e-a-l slow. Even used the FEL to position the cross beam for reattachment. She was both impressed and pleased with the results. Yes, gotta love tractor time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep.. gotta love the ruts.. we have some too... makes for a fun tractor ride

If you look closely at the picture you may be able to tell that it was a rental. The picture was taken almost a year before I bought my tractor - before I knew anything about tractor safety. I used it to relocate the playset and mulch in preparation to put in a pool. Looking back, I think I did everything wrong and I am lucky that there was not an "incident".
