Remember that guy back in 2002 who drove his tractor into the Reflecting Pond on the mall in Wash, DC? He had a wagon in tow and claimed it contained explosives. Constitution Ave was closed for a day or two while he stood off the FBI. His explosives turned out to be soap. Don't remeber what he issue was.

Doubt his seat time was too theraputic. )</font>

I doubt he remembers what his "issue" was now....

I'm thinking it was either the tobacco buy-out proposal, or general "farm commodity prices".

Guess he took all the soap with him to CLEAN UP WASHINGTON....... (and good luck with THAT)

Pineridge, actually there are bad seat times, I had one last year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif which I try to forget. Luckily they are few and far between.

Whoa...haven't heard this story yet.
And since you brought it up, I believe you're now obligated to share.
We all learn from the good and the bad. And if it's really bad, I'd like to see pics too.

Edski, sorry I'd like to not think about this too much, since it's coming up on the 1 yr mark and still hurts. Do a search on "Bad seat time" that I posted in June '04.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

While I've lost a number of companions, my love was a German Shephard I got when I was 18 and put down on my 30th birthday. Dug a hole at my folks home by hand. She was up top laying down (severe hip dysplacia), both paws floped over the edge, head in the hole with her ever present grin while I was digging. I can picture it like it was yesterday. It's been almost 15 years and I'm all teary eyed typing this. Gonna log off before I short circuit the keyboard.

Stay strong.

Changing the subject back to GOOD seat time, I was on the tractor earlier this week reshaping a swale because we are extending a fence line to expand the "dog yard" out to the new garage that is under construction. While I was cutting away at the slope with the box blade and scooping up the spoils with the FEL to be moved into a pile, I saw my neighbor come out of his garage with a wheel barrow and a shovel.

Naturally I let him work up a good sweat trying to move a dirt mound that started out about as big as a full size van. He was using the wheel barrow to move this pile out to the woods to dump and spread it. He has a little garden tractor, but doesn't even have a lawn cart. So he is a manual labor sort of guy . . . out of necessity.

I got a good chunk of work done and could now clearly see his head had turned bright red and his sweatshirt was cleary soaked from his efforts so I drove over and finished moving and spreading the pile for him. He thanked me with a cold adult beverage and commented that he needed to get into the bathtub to soak his back. Funny, but I wasn't even sore and I moved about 85% of that dirt for him /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

know what you mean GOOD SEAT TIMEthis past Sat it was raining and i was not doing much, putzing around in the garage when i see the guy down the road pullin an old boat he had in the field with his quad, the boat trailer had no wheels on it, well they get it on the road and try and pull it onto a trailer on a pick up.. got it part way up but the thing hung and they could not lift the back end up, after watching them struggle i fired up the tractor and went over. Picked the back end up and then slowly pushed it on the trailer, took about 3 min. BUT THEY SURE WERE HAPPY. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ALTHOUGH I WAS A LITTLE WET /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Bob,
That's not only good seat time, it's truely evil seat time, which might well be the best kind. Goes to show that timing is everything.

Pretty much here too. I mow 10ac of my pasture about once a month.. give or take, weather dependent. When I'm out there.. I don't recall 'thinking' about anything... as far as I know.. my mind just runs a 'test pattern' while I'm mowing. I'm almost always relaxed after coming in from a few hours of grass cutting. I'll bet if you took a brain scan of me while mowing.. the pattern might look like the cut pattern on my field! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Peacefull bliss.... Riding around on the tractor means I can't hear the cell phone for one thing. (PLEASE don't tell my boss about the vibrate mode.....)

I'm almost completely deaf. 90% in one ear, 75% in the other. For years, my wife has been after me to get a hearing aide. My reply???? Huh? WHAT?

If I COULD hear everything, then I'd HAVE to hear everything. )</font>

I managed to lose two pair and my wife is convinced I'm senile. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
