Seat up, can't run rear PTO Chipper

I havn't had any trouble with engaging mine as long as the seat is up before I try engaging the pto. I do have a couple of sandbags I made from discarded Jeans legs that I have used on the seat from time to time, and that works too. Other ideas mentioned are good too. Going to mount it on my neighbor's Massey in a little while today so it will be interesting to see how it runs on that.. He has helped me so much since I've been sick that it is great to be able to return that in some way.

Interesting. On my tractor the PTO must be engaged before the seat is folded up.
Here is what I do:
Press clutch, engage PTO, release clutch, stand up and fold up seat within 3 seconds otherwise engine dies.

Engage PTO and flip up seat within a few seconds on mine too.

I could never get off the seat and fold it up in time without the engine dying so I just disabled the switch.:D

Same here. I tried it to make sure it would work. I don't have a chipper.

there is a timer/relay that controls this ...perhaps it could do w. replacement; I had an intermittent failure that caused the engine to die while I was in the seat and operating ...our tractors are quite different models but in my shop manual there is a mistake and the relays are mismarked !

In the photo, note that there are two identical relays, both marked as glow-plug relays ...one is the relay that controls the "kill" with the (timed) signal from the OPC (Operator Presence Control) timer. My tractor is a Grand L4330, but you must have similar components and similar functionality ...

The first thing I was told to try was to unplug and reseat the relays and timer connections ...connectors are always a weak point.

Don't know if this helps.

Well, I appreciate all the input but I am not sure yet. maybe it is the relays that Joel mentioned.

If I am sitting on the seat and running the tractor, if I try to stand then it starts to stall which is expected. When I tilt the seat up then it keeps on running and starts to stall if I attempt to engage the PTO, middle, rear, or both. I have tried in rabbit, turtle, and nuetral position to no avail. This works fine last year and consistently was able to run the rear PTO with seat tilted with no issues. I'll give the kubota dealer a call and keep you posted.

I bypassed the seat switch permanently by taking seat apart , and am just common sense careful now.
