Security lights or darkness??

I vote total dark. Most people are afraid of the dark. As a professional military type the dark is your friend the darker the better. Contrary to popular belief and what police tell you. Thieves love lights. They can see what's there. They can look for things that might get in their way. Total dark leaves lots of unknowns. They don't know what's there, and can not see all the stuff to trip over and run into.

I live in illegal alien alley I leave all lights off at night and have never had any approach my house. I have neighbors that think the lights scare them Which they don't they just give them a beacon to home in on. And they constantly have them outside at night looking for water and anything else they can steal.

Get sick of light pollution... Neighbors have dusk till dawns and I hate them. Big time gun owners and shooters and they are scared of the dark. It is much easier to spot people working in the dark with flashlights.

Here is a real scenario...
Our family's lakehouse has no neighbors except for a church a half mile away. Unfortunately the church decides to light the place up like chevy chase Christmas. Ours is pitch black nothing on. A state trooper saw a light in our house and came to chit chat. I invited him in and we sat down and talked. He informed me the church was having nearly BI-MONTHLY attempted break ins (once in alarm spooks them). I asked what I should do to prevent the same and he just suggested trail cams. Said they pick up license plates clear and faces good. So that's on my to do list. We have insurance also

Long story short... Motion light maybe trail cam too.

I am agreeing with the idea that motion sensing may be the way to go. The interior lights will not work as it easy to tell if anyone is at the cabin.... We have interior camera/dvr set already in place
