Maybe it's my store rather than an across the board return policy.

Or it could have just been the salesperson. I had one try to give me a hard time about a shovel one time so I said it has a full warranty (which it did) and I wanted to speak to the manager. Manager came over and with no issue did the exchange.

That's odd, I replaced a breaker bar a few months back, I walked in with just the breaker bar and walked out about 10 minutes later with a new one and an exchange receipt.

Don't you just love the look they give you when they exchange a breaker bar....the look of "we know you had a bar on it but would really like to know how long...". I know someone who broke a 3/4 drive breaker bar using a 10' pipe on it. Exchanged no problem.

I gave up on the craftsman brand about 12 years ago. Had a ratchet that would pop and change directions if you put some pressure on it, literally turning it into a knuckle buster.

The cashier gave me grief saying I was abusing it. Didn't have a refurbished one in there drawer. I finally lost my patience and asked for a manager. Manager dug around and finally found a "refurbished" one and sent me on my way.

Got out to my next jobsite. Went to pop a drain plug loose and had the blasted thing pop and switch directions and busted my knuckles.

I haven't set foot in a Sears store or bought anything craftsman since.

Now, if only Menards would expand their territory to the east. Or better yet, I should move west.

We travel west every year and am very impressed with the size and selection of inventory stocked in their stores. It's like a Lowes and Home Depot combined.

And south. I love Menards and drive past Lowes to get there from my house in Wisconsin. When we're in TN, I have to be satisfied with my 10% veteran's discount at Lowes.

Grew up in Wisconsin so very familiar with Menards. (point of trivia: My neighbor went to prom with John Menard) Going back to see Dad on 80th birthday May 27th. I'll have to look at their tool boxes. I agree with them needing to expand south too. I think IL is the closest one to me in SE AL. The one thing I did notice is that Lowes and HD seem to have higher end stuff like Kohler plumbing compared to Menards. But Menards always had them beat on all the little and big stuff. Don't know if its true still today but Menards in Wausau would have common roof trusses (24' long 4:12 pitch) in stock.
