Self-contained scraper

Thought you guys might like to see this. I have never seen anything like it before. I can see where you would have an advantage with this over a traditional scraper. When I first saw it I thought it looked like a giant zamboni!

The developers here in Central Texas need those things. They remove all of the topsoil first, then build houses and finally put back about one inch of the topsoil, just enough to get grass started, and sell the rest at $30 per cubic yard.
Pretty nice machine.

The downsides are probably slow speed if need to carry the dirt any distance, undercarriage replacement cost, can't transport it on any road without hauling it, and doesn't carry as much dirt. It is cool to watch.

Thats called a scrapedozer. Ive gotten some factory brochures on them. They are used on resricted sites mostly in Germany and Japan. Nissha Makes them now for Frutiger. THey have a light knock down blade and a scarifier. they usuall back drag while dumping to spread the load the width of the machine ahd also can bulk dup out the front. It operator sits side ways to see either end. They use MB and Nissan Diesels. The largest one it the Tiger and its right at 20 to 26 yards heaped. Thatsthe same as a 621 and 623 Cat scrapers struck capaicty. Also used for dredging gravel from rivers. I had a video one time when we were looking to find one for winter use at the landfill I work at. They run and old style D8K undercarriage. They have alot of uses some have alot of lond distance hauls in bad terrain. I wished my old computer was online i could post pics. I have seen a website linked from Bagger Fruende to the excavation of a building foundation in Germany that had 2 of them at work and several other machines.
