Wife and I sold our house for double what we bought it for.

Paid off a few bills, and waiting.......

We'll see whether we end up buying another house or property and building a place.

Just depends now on when the bubble pops and what we find.

I wouldn't want to build or buy a house now. I hear people telling me that I could sell my place for a lot of money but then I would have to buy a place at these inflated prices.

There are reasons to move. My sister/BIL are downsizing from 5 acres, house and shop, and moving into town because they can't keep up with the place any more. With no mortgage, they get to downsize in cash. Rising interest rates will work in their favor as loan costs squash housing prices, as long as they sell quick and buy slow.

I'll get off topic just a bit here. Might want to look a little deeper into selling on Ebay these days. No doubt the best place to sell when downsizing - as we are - but there are now tax considerations for this. Ebay now deposits your payout in your bank account with a tax account number. Once you're over $600 you and the IRS get a 1099K form at the end of the year with whatever your total sales were and that goes right on top of any other income you have. To reduce that number you have to produce receipts for the items that show you lost or broke even on the various sales. Consider 14% fees from Ebay and maybe 20% taxes on top of that and all the wrapping and shipping work and it starts to not look so good for the average person, such as me. Sure don't keep receipts for 20 year old stuff.
