Selling my BX1500

   / Selling my BX1500 #21
I am a long time member, and occasional contributor to this forum. I have asked far more questions than I have ever answered. The fact is, when I joined the forum, I did not know a 3PH from a PTO. If not for the timely and generous responses of more senior and experienced members, I would not have had the excellent purchase, operating, and maintenance success that I enjoy today.

You did not attack me, correct. My "attack" on you, stems from frustration with forum (other forums also) members presenting "teaser" information in a public forum, and not providing details when requested. I don't understand what that could possibly accomplish, other than to frustrate members who may actually be looking to buy similar equipment as described in the teaser.

My response in this thread is/was an honest question. My response in the other thread was sarcastic and juvenile. I apologize.

Well LB, let's not get carried away with the frowny faces. I was making a joke. Look at your signature. You have, or will have soon, 6 tractors. 3 of them SCUTs. All this to care for 2.33 acres.

You have also posted that you have 900hrs on your bx23, however we have yet to see picture #1 of any of the projects that you have undertaken or completed. Don't worry, I looked.

I did a quick search on posts that you have started many threads regarding which would you buy. The problem is, you never seamed to buy any of them. It is as if you are talking for the sake of talking, not for the sake contributing. You throw out somewhat random questions, and then return to the thread months after it has been finished only to post remarks that are no longer timely. BTW, not everyone needs to own 6 tractors (or has the money for that matter), so please address peoples needs and concerns taking into consideration their situation instead of constantly posting what you would do.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, let's see some pictures of your tractors and the work you have done with them. Everyone loves pictures around here. Let's see the colors in your garage. Any pictures will do.

I apologize to others who might be reading this. I do not mean to waste your time, however I need to say this out loud (so to speak).

Thank you for the analysis and summary, Mr. Kwolfe. It is very, very accurate, quite respectful, and well said. I find the 900 hour thing pretty interesting. In the 165 action-packed hours I have on my machine (in 1.5 years), I have:

---completely reconstructed front flower bed
---moved WELL over over 100 CY of soil material
---moved over 60 CY of mulch
---removed over 15 trees over 10" caliper
---removed stumps from above trees
---moved stumps from above trees (some weighing over 500#) to nearby dump site
---extended sump drain 60 feet
---installed several different yard drains to accomodate fill
---completely rehabilitated, smoothed, and seeded 1 acre of fine lawn
---taken the trash out about 100 times
---gotten the paper/mail about 60 times
---moved over 2000# of salt (softener) from my truck to my basement door
---moved over 70 gallons of bleach (chlorine injection for odor) from my truck to my basement door
---moved 600# of play sand
---excavated/backfilled wife's garden area
---excavated/backfilled neighbors wife's garden area
---dug holes for about 40 of several neighbors random shrubs/trees
---held up my daughter's birthday pinata
---helped build daughter's play area (held up heavy things)
---watered a remote tree I relocated during flower bed project (filled FEL with water)
---mowed my grass about 30 times
---cleared about 0.5 acres of dense growth from my parent's NC property
---removed and prepared my parents front flower bed
---moved two 600# concrete pads to finish my parent's sidewalk
---hit the garage door surround trim once
---cleared about 8 equivalent miles of snow off of neighbor's driveways during 2 winters
---moved several felled trees (windstorm) from neighbor's driveway
---used as a mobile ladder platform for hanging/removing Christmas lights once
---washed the tractor three times
---waxed the tractor once
---hugged the tractor twice
---never kissed the tractor, though I should
---had 4 minor pucker events
---had 1 MAJOR pucker event
---had the tractor rolled once by my Dad with me standing 30 feet away
---never rolled the tractor once by my hand
---had zero failures
---had zero injuries

I know I'm forgetting some things, but this is an "off the top of my head" starter list and I think I've disucussed about 2/3 of these items in this forum. Some out of pride. Some to help others. Most for no particular reason.

Anyhoo...interesting statistic. I wonder what I could do with a few more tractors? I think I'd need more of me...one big expensive orange thing has done JUST FINE.

Thank you for the information.

I felt the same frustration. Here is what I did:

1) Click on member's name

2) Click on "Add member to ignore list"

Problem Solved.

KeithInSpace, interesting list. Being a new guy my list is smal but there are some common themes:

---moved 25 CY of top soil to fill in sinking geothermal field & driveway edge.
---excavated rock and backfilled w/soil area along new driveway.
---moved 400lbs of salt (softener) from my car to my basement door.
---mowed my 2.2 acres grass about 5 times.
---Spread fertilizer on 2.2 acres once.
---hit the garage door surround trim once with FEL.
---washed the tractor once.
---waxed the tractor hood once.
---had 1 minor pucker event.
---Scooped up and burried one road kill ground hog.
BX2350 just turned 24 hours. One tractor is more than enough to keep me busy. What no one told me when I bought this tractor was how much hand work (manual labor) went with the tractor work.:D

Got a good start on the task list at 24 hours. Quite impressive.

All I have to say is: Get a backhoe. Mine has about paid for itself and I've only had it one summer.

FEL, Backhoe, BoxBlade, PHD and I've almost forgotten how to use a shovel. I avoid it at any cost. No more leaf rake now that I use a bagger. I've decided to buy a York Rake the next time I try to sew seed...this yard rehab project has really stunk without it. I think that will round out my implement list for the long term.

I have the wife sold on a new 7' x 14' dual axle trailer. It is actually a car trailer, so it has brakes on both axles. Quite nice. $1,850. Probably by Christmas if a need doesn't arise sooner.

THEN I'll be about done buying stuff. Maybe.

Tractors are good at that> I don't think they like to work alone.
What I'm saying is let's have a little truth in advertizing. You open the Kubota brochure and there is some GQ guy cruising across a perfect lawn on an estate with a bucket full of trees wearing a button down shirt and khakis. The reality is some poor schmoe like me with a coal shovel in my hand breaking up clumps of clay top soil he spread out to regrade his drive way edge. It's 90 degrees out and this guy had spent 2 hours of tractor time moving the clumped batch of top soil he should have rejected and 6 hours beating the top soil into submission with business end of the coal shovel. The guy is dirty, sweaty and using some bad language about the landscape company that dropped this load of clay off for $33.00 CY. Now that is what should be in the 09 brochure. Yah you get a lot done with the tractor but at the end of the day they don't call is yard work for nothing.
