Kubota BX2230
The time has come for me to give up my 2005 BX2230. It is going to be a bittersweet time as I have had a blast with the tractor, but I am at the point that there won't be much to do besides mowing w/ the BX, and that is a waste of such a good machine.

Here is my Kubota:

2005 BX2230 w/FEL, Turf Tires, 60MMM, 48" Rhino Boxblade, Grill Guard and CarryAll, 210 original hours of operation w/ 1 owner
All Maintenance is up to date
Garage kept until this summer...it has been out most the time
All manuals

With the new BX 2350 coming out and the 3 year 0% financing in place, I was thinking $11,750 for the tractor and all the goodies.

I called a CO dealer and he told me that for a BX2350 w/FEL and turf, I was looking @ 12k. Add $1800 for the MMM and then another $800 for the Boxblade, and it is getting close to $14k+. I figured 2 years depreciation at $1000/year.

Is my pricing out of line?

Good luck w/your sale.
Sometimes you can do better to sell the implements (except the MMM) separately.

Funny, my BX23 does more mowing than anything else and I wouldn't think about mowing w/anything smaller. Course I finish mow 4 acres and I sometimes think about a B3030 w/cab & AC :D

Keep it. It's the last mower you'll ever have to buy. And the last wheel-barrow, And you have the PTO/3PH capability when the need arises.

Not to be too blunt, but I predict that selling your tractor will be one of the things you do in your life that you occasionally think about and wish you hadn't done. Like selling a '68 Hemi 'Cuda for $1,900 because your girlfriend at the time didn't like the purple color or you needed the money to buy the white leather bedroom set you always wanted.

Unless you're moving into a oldies community or to a 12th floor efficiency in New York City. Even if you're in the old people's place, you could make some friends and flip their golf carts over when they tick you off.

Oh yeah. And it's the last mower you'll ever have to buy.

But regarding your question, you're probably on the higher side of reasonable, but I hope you get it. You'll probably end up closer to $10,500 at the end of the day. My prediction for the day. As someone else said in this forum, "My advise is free. And worth every penny."

Not sure I agree in this case, Mr. Volfandt. Perhaps the box blade, but the FEL and MMM should stay with the tractor. He donesn't have much else. If he had a PHD, a RFM, or something else that would readily fit another tractor, I'd concur. This is just a nice, simple starter set.

It may be just a bit high, but if you aren't ready to get rid of it in a hurry, go ahead and list it for that. You may end up at 11 even or a little below. I had real good luck with Craigslist - sold it in a week, but that was in early June up in Boulder. Actually had a guy from Brighton that wanted it, but missed out. There haven't been any subs on Craigslist since mine was up, and I had quite a few very interested folks, so you may sell it pretty quick.

Good luck. And think long and hard about selling. You'll probably go through some significant withdrawl symptoms after it's gone. I have.

After having a tractor for two years, I can't imagine ever being without one. Even if I do end up on the 12th floor of a retirement condo, there is going to be some kind of tractor in the parking garage. I may not need it, but I'll have it. Be better than a golf cart anyway.

Thank you for all of the input. I was thinking about listing it @ $11,750, but would be happy if someone came in around $1000.00 less. I want to add that I love the posts on this board...the 1st 3 telling me I am crazy for even thinking about selling. I AGREE!!!!!

I know I am going to hate doing it, but sometimes you just need to do it. I look at it this way, I have 1.25 acres, but 1/2 acre is landscapped and the BX is too much for mowing that portion. The other 3/4 acre I am still trying to figure out what to do with and there is real potential for me to move in 2 years. Although mowing the 3/4 with the BX gets it done in half the time.

I will most likely put it on craigslist (thank you for the idea Bandit and I am sorry to see you are without a tractor as you were the one that lead me to buy from B&G so thank you again) in 2 weeks to see what happens.

It has been a great investment for everything that I needed to accomplish and it holds its value tremendously. I will keep everyone updated on my progress and keep trying to talk me out of it! I know I am going to regret selling it.

Isn't that all the reason you need to keep the tractor? What happens when you decide what to do with it, and you find yourself with nothing but a shovel and a rake instead of a loader and a box blade on a diesel tractor? You will probably use the shovel to dig yourself a grave and then kill yourself with the rake.

If that happens, and it is to somewhere that you can't take the tractor, sell it then. I wouldn't go selling something because there's a "chance" of moving. I'd wait until the day of certainty comes!

If that day comes, you could also consider offering it to potential house buyers. They can always tack another $10,000 onto the mortgage. :)

Unless you're selling it to pay for a surgery that a family member needs or something else that clearly takes priority, don't do it. It is an absolute fact that you will have moments of regret for the rest of your life - or until you can't deal with it anymore and go buy another one.
