Selling My BX2230...sad day!

Kjd,

I agree completely with RayCo. Don't sell it unless there is a real need for the money. My reason for selling was twofold - I was carrying a very expensive investment property and needed the money just in case I couldn't dump the property, and I planned on moving to a larger property that would require a larger machine.

However, the money from the tractor has been spent dealing with real estate, and now I'm in a position that I have to get rid of more real estate before I can get another. Even my little subcompact would be better than the nothing I have right now at the new property. And with this lousy real estate market and lender mess across the country, it may be a while before I get rid of more real estate and get my new machine. :(

Don't sell unless you absolutely have to! ;)

kjd,
1) Buy and Hold. Works for stocks....works for equipment....if you bought good stuff....which you did.

2) Get Creative. That 3/4 acre is like a blank canvas. You're the artist. Would an artist sell his brushes and paints because he hadn't decided on his next masterpiece?

3) Have you ever made any mistakes that make you want to kick yourself? Do you enjoy being reminded of those mistakes? Do you want to add to the list?

4) Volunteer to help the neighbors. Got any widow ladies or seniors nearby who'd like some landscaping done but don't have the money? Offer to lend a hand and put the BX and that talent to work. They'll appreciate it and you'll feel good about helping, get some exercise, burn some diesel, and make new friends besides. It's not all about $$.

Don't say I didn't try.

I thought the day I sold my tractor was the saddest also...until I was moving mulch by hand...digging out shrubs with a shovel...trying to move the frozen in pile of snow at the end of my driveway, etc. I have found that all of those days are much sadder than the day I sold my tractor and I can't wait to have another tractor some day...:) This has also taught me that any tractor is way better than no tractor!

Unfortunately, I need to sell the tractor for the cash. I have to cover some of my costs and the tractor is the 1 thing I can depart with...unfortunately.

I will have 1 last project completed before I get the machine on the market. I figure that if I do have a need for the tractor, and I will, I can get one for the weekend for around $150 to move stone and dirt. It isn't the best positon to be in, but with my 2 years of knowledge of the Kubota, I will be able to accomplish a heck of a lot using a rented tractor. Besides, I can try out some new machines...and bigger ones!

It sucks, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. I know I am going to regret that day. I am lucky that I have a wife that understood the need for a tractor in the 1st place. Besides, if we do stay and the situation with $$$ gets better, then I can go out and get another! This time, with more tools!

Thanks for all of the input and I hope things get better soon Bandit. That is why I do not invest in real estate, too illiquid. These perfect storms come around every 15-20 years and the real estate market in CO is horrible, especially when you need to sell. I wish you the best.

I like your idea of renting given your experience as an owner. And, as you said, you may end up buying another tractor down the road.

Best of Luck!!!

Here in MN you'd be lucky to find someone to pay that much (sorry). For not a whole lot more, the buyer could buy a 2350 and get: factory financing, full warranty and a ZERO hour tractor with the upgrades.

In that case, sell it. You can't really regret it if it's something that must be done, I figure. You gotta do what you gotta do!

I guess I won't mention how my wife insisted that I get my BX and even went and sold her Lincoln to help make it happen and now proudly drives a GMC with a Kubota license plate on the front while wearing a pink Kubota baseball cap.

Oh, you can regret it, and you do, even if you gotta do what you gotta do.

Now if I could just get my wife to sell her nice expensive car and get a cheaper one so I can go order my machine this weekend. Think I'll go mention it to her. Maybe she'll go for it if I throw in that pink cap and a pink shirt to go with it. Wish me luck.
