Couldn't get my riding mower started for the first mowing one spring. Engine would not turn over - no click - nothing.
Figured the battery died over the winter.
Got a new battery.
Same thing.
Oh yeah - take it out of gear so the safety switch is off.... duh

As a TRUE senior, I will have to own up: Last year I had some engine/carburator work done on my deck boat. It was 10 years old (in dog years) and I was ok with a good overhaul. The marine shop got it running great. I took it out for a weekend and the engine never missed a beat, very smooth. The next time I could not get it to crank. It tried, I gave it more gas, it tried harder. It would kick off for two seconds and then kill.
I figured there was some more adjustment that the marine shop needed to do, so I called and asked them to come by at their leisure and check it out. Well, I got home from work one day. I could tell that they had been there. I tried the boat, ran like a charm, and we took it for a spin. Next weekend it ran great as well.
I finally stopped by the marine shop on the way home from work one day to ask them "What was wrong?" He said "You don't want to know"......"the kill switch was not properly attached, and it was doing it's job.....killing the engine"

I went to the range today to fire my regular 18 rounds a weekend from the deer rifle. I opened the ammo box and there was a round with piece of black rubber in the place of the primer. Apparently I took a training shell and filled it with powder and a bullet. Sometimes I amaze even myself
