Why not?

This would let people talk more freely and vent ect.

Then go back to the core forums??

We are all adults.I think it may be nice to see this?

Moderated of course\ just maybe alot more lax

I don't think that would be a good idea. Sort of like asking a women how old she is . You would be in trouble the minute you asked ! The problem I see is "some" people just don't vent well or respect other peoples opinions. The last thing I want to do is make someone mad because of my political views. There are plenty of places to do that on the internet already .If you really want to"stir it up" just make a statement that your tractor brand is better than someone elses . That should keep you busy defending your beliefs for the next year ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think opening up the forums to arguments would be a bad idea myself. Things are pretty much kept in check here eliminating the flames once they start to spread here.

Religion and politics have always caused problems with discussions in mixed groups. Each person should have his or her own idea of which is best without pushing it off on others.

Besides isn't this site about tractors anyway?

I agree with you for the most part,

But there is not a subject on this forum that does not have a political outcome or view.

ie.Kubota-vs-kioti <color>

Oil leak-did you call the EPA

catch or shoot

my property rights-vs- someone elses

Yes there are other sites, but all the smart people are here.

Thats why I am still here.I just do not see what would be wrong with a area where people could discuss things in a more lax area and then go back to the forums.

Now lets talk about that island in Panama.

I think it's pretty rude you never asked me over. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree 100%,

But not on these forums>Kioti got it's own section last year.

If things can expand one way why not in other directions.

Maybe I am wrong? I would just like to see this forum expand. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And so it begins.

The last thread that got canned started with approximately "Youre all a bunch of women because you don't see it my way..."

Folks, we all have tractors in common but beyond that I expect there are differences nobody else wants to hear about.

My vote would be to keep a focus on tractors, and in a civil and informative manner.

I'm sure you can find a Yahoo! Message Board that will allow these sort of posts. What value would it add to the TBN site?

This has been suggested, and was rejected by management in past. Heated issues in one forum cause interpersonal relationships that overflow into other forums. This is not in the mission statement for this Bulletin Board. The guys that pay the bills don't want to spend their bandwidth money on this material.

This is a tractor forum. If you need to vent and argue, there are numerous forums on the internet that will meet that need.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If and when folks need to argue a point, it's best to take it off the board. PM, or even email.

I've been involved with a number of sites that started off with the best of intentions, then slowly turned into political forums.

Down the tubes they went.

There are sites that deal primarily with politics, and a few with religion. This is a tractor/rural life site. No need to muddy the water with another topic, in my opinion.

I was in on the start of 3 seperate websites. ("Charter member" if you will) One (dealing with auto racing, it drew ALL the nut cases) quickly evolved into a constant fight over politics and social issues. With-in 6 months, there wasn't the first post being made about auto racing. Just flaming each other and trolls stirring the pot. #2 is/was a tractor site. It slowly evolved into a haven for conservitive extremist's. And that drew the LIBERAL extremist's in to do battle. When all that was discussed was old tractors, we all got along great. As soon as the topic became politics, good friends became bitter enemies. #3 was a long running (brand specific) tractor site. The most recent presidential election saw opinions, then arguements, then the site going down the drain..... All in about 6 months time.

This is a great site. There are MANY inteligent, experienced, and insightful folks on here. I'd sure hate to see it evolve (Is there such a word as "DEvolve?) to the lowered standards of so many other sites.

My vote is to keep it the way it is....NO politics/religion....

I know what I believe in......
