Septic Lagoon Algae Buildup - How To Clear It ???

I have seen duckweed mentioned a few times... is it algae (stringy) or duckweed (little plants with leaves) ?

I have just got back from taking a look at the surface of the water and it does look like duckweed - I was mistaken and thanks for the reality check.

I guess this means a different approach as the weed grows prolifically and cuts out sunlight and oxygen to the water. I guess it means more research is needed and no doubt more money spent. From what little I have read so far says that it can appear suddenly and cover the whole area in a fairly short time. This is exactly what has happened.

Off to do some more reading .
