Septic Tank Access

   / Septic Tank Access #11
That's what I'm worried about. I'll probably get a riser, not so much because we need to pump them often, but just so that they are easy to find. This particular tank nobody knew existed until I happened to search in the wrong spot for one of our main septic tanks, which I did finally dig up.

As far as locating them goes, get a 100' tape measure and measure to the center of the tank cover from two corners of your house. Write it down. File it under S.... for "Septic" of course!

You can always put the ceremonial wishing well over the tank cover, too. Or a bird feeder. Its a good way to remember where the lid is.

I put in risers about a year ago, I had to go to a plumbing supply company and also get the tar install kit. As for what is on the lid I just up a decorative stepping stone on top of it and graded to the grass around. This way I will always know where it is.

I got tired of looking for mine and digging them up as needed so I made a form around each clean out about 4'' wide and about 3ft sq and up to grade on top of the concrete tank and filled it with concrete. Left the original covers in place. Covered the concrete risers with checker plate steel and painted them green.
