How would engine oil get into the hydraulic system? I can understand checking it as you should check it regularly.....but a compression test will tell us more I think.
Could you explain this. I can understand how hyd. could get in to the engine. I just cannot understand how engine oil can get into the hyd system.that is what my guess would be too... it's going into the hydraulic
How much oil are you using in how many hrs. How many hrs are on the tractor. Have you had this tractor for a while. Did it start using oil all of a sudden or get gradually worse over time.

Ok maby I'm an idiot. The hyd. pump is a high pressure pump mounted to the engine. If it hyd pump developes a seal leak it would leak in to the engine. The engine is a low pressure system with no pressurized oil in the area the pump is mounted. The oil is splashed on the gears.Even if it was some how sucking engine oil in to the pump the amount of oil would be minimal. It would probably suck more air. I see there is a piston type and a gear type pump available but I still don't see how either pump could cause serious engine oil loss.so .. what drives the hyd pump on that machine?
