Tractor
Yanmar YM2500
Hey ya'll,

I am probably fixing to sell my Mahindra 485 tractor and all attachments. I don't need a tractor this size anymore. It is a 45 horse power with 1170 hrs.

I still need a tractor. I am looking at the Yanmar YM3000 and YM3110. I know the differences between the two, so that is not really my question. How much should I expect to pay for each of these? Can these tractors run 5' implements easily? ARE PARTS EASILY AVAILABLE?..........Who/where should I buy from? I know that I sould probably stay away from Vietnam Recons.

I couldn't believe how active, "supportive" everyone is on the Yanmar forum here on Tractor By Net. That is one deciding factor for me on buying a Yanmar. I almost bought a Yanmar 2 yrs. ago before I bought my Mahindra. Don't get me wrong, I really like my Mahindra, its just that the model I have is not really "supportive" on here.

I am in south Louisiana, but will consider buying anywhere as long as the dealer will deliver.

All of the dealers who regularly visit this forum are reputable. They will also provide you with support and parts. They will answer your questions honestly and advise you on the best size implements for your tractor. I will leave it up to them to answer you on whether they can deliver to your area. They will be along shortly. Buy a nice original condition tractor from one of them and avoid the recons unless the dealer can prove to you exactly what was done and where the work was done (stateside, not Vietnam).

The YM3000 is gear drive and the YM3110 is power shift. Some of the YM3110's have power steering. Parts availabilty is good for both, but a little bit better for the YM3110. I like the YM3110 with power steering best.

Too bad about the mahindra... 1170 hours is just broke in good.

Other than too big.. any reason you selling it? ( Bad dealer support in your area? ).. Around here in central florida.. there are decent dealers who carry mahindra...)

Does yours have that electric solenoid engaged pto? If so.. how do you like it/ Any problems with shear bolts and fast engagements?

Good luck on your yanmar search.

I would say either of those tractors would run 6" implements with no problem.

Besides being too big for my needs, I figured I could pay off the loan of the Mahindra by selling it with all of my attachments. Next, I would take the left over money and buy a Yanmar "package" with only having to borrow a little less than what the pay-off is on the Mahindra. Understand? I may have made it a little complicated.

Anyway, If I do decide to sell, someone will be getting a very dependable, trouble-free tractor. Thats why I hate to sell it. Its done everything I've asked it to do and then some. I don't know if my conscience will let me part with it!......In a year and a half and 285 hrs I put on it, It has been excellent.....I mean I've had a few minor things go wrong, but mainly everything has pretty much been my fault.....As you see in other posts by me I don't have any complaints with my tractor OR my dealer.

Everything I do with my tractor now, a Yanmar could handle easily.

Yanmars around here are so expensive...... EXAMPLE: YM3000 anywhere from $5800-$6500 YM2000 around $3900..........

I just don't know what to do.

Never really confirmed, just POV, at that--

best thing is to go and see the tractor, try it, look for leaks, and if available, confirm records. Otherwise, maybe get an oil test to see what's going on with parts, etc. ...

My recon has just survived a brutal project with no failure (other than a rough start a day ago (like coffing) but that could be a number of things).

bottom line, go and try, go with your gut instinct, and be sure to pay attention to support and such...

Also, a ym3000 around me would probably be like 10K or more. So, if you can get 'em that cheap, let me know and we'll open up shop ! :D

Hmm.. end result is you have a smaller tractor and a smaller implement set for that tractor.. and perhaps owe just a littl eless than you do now.. right?

I think I might try to make the dealer a trade offer... Trade your new (ish) mahindra and implements for the smaller older yanmer and implements.. and a modest sum of cash...

That would get you the same result, as you could apply the sum of cash to the payoff. It would move one of the dealers tractors, and give him an excelent trade.. worth more than the yanmar he moved, even figuring a small amount of cash on the deal.

Soundguy,

You did understand correctly.........What would you do? If you did the deal, how much more money would you expect the dealer to give me???????

I paid around $7200 for my 3110D with ps. so, I think the prices you listed for yanmar are in the ballpark.
