Without knowing what the price of the unit you are looking at.. what implements you want to get, what implements you have to trade with the tractor ( and their condition ), and what you still owe on the tractor.. It's hard to come up with a firm number.

I figured maybee you had a dollar amount in mind to have left over after selling your existing equipment package, then buying your new equipment package.

If you don't have a number.. try to value your equipment.. and then scope out prices on the desired package and compair the 2..

I bought a YM3000 about 2 years ago. Paid $5000 it was a recon with 875 hrs on the counter. ( who knows what it really had ) It pulls 5' implements well and some, like the landscape rake I wish I had bought a 6', it had more than enough power. The 5' disk runs in 3rd. low range. The 5' Howard HR-8 tiller runs at full depth first pass and you don't feel any load at all. It would be nice to have power steering, especialy with the FEL and a load on, but it is more than manageable without. I have a Koyker 160, and paid $2300 extra for it at the time of purchase. Now the down side, I've split this thing twice in the last two years. Not so bad for me, my shop is set up for this with a gantry and a place to work inside, well equipted machine shop. First time I had a leak in the front of the transmission. Upon splitting I found that 2 rubber plugs that seal the shifting shafts in the housing were out. Looking at the parts manual found the retraining bracket for the plugs was missing. Fixed and assembled. Second was failure of the pilot bearing at the flywheel, had to split at the clutch. If there was any recon done there the workmanship was poor at best. New clutch, throwout bearings, bearing housing, remaching the pilot bearing bore and machine custom throw out bearing. As others have said here often, you take a chance with the recons like any used piece of equiptment. I was lucky enough to be set up to do these repairs with little trouble. Could have been a big problem to others. I would still recomend a YM 3000 in the right condition for the right price, but EXPECT to do repairs, this is used equiptment. The recon on mine was mostly a paint job. Looking at others, I should be able to sell mine for what I paid still, not a bad investment.
