Server Downtime

I run through the main index also. I'd noticed a slow down, but I wrote it off to unrelated problems that we've been having with our computer.

I'm going to feel REALLY bad if you get things fixed and I'm still having the same problems (which I fully expect)! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For me, occasionally (infrequently) it would hang when changing screens and I could either wait a long time OR click again and it would usually go ahead and change. Like some of the other guys, I just assumed it was my ISP, my own computer, or the particular route the message went the first time. But come to think of it, it wasn't ever happening on any other sites.

No, not until the other day. And it effects the entire site for me, as described by Bird. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it's delayed for up to 30 seconds.

Being unable to narrow this down isn't helping. I'm inclined to believe it was from the time we upgraded MySQL.

The reboot would not have changed anything. The way MySQL is interpreting our searches must have changed and that would cause the "occasional" slowdown in the entire site. Basically, whenever anyone uses the "past X hours" it holds it for 10-20 seconds. And then the other requests get backed up. I'm not sure why this is, exactly.

But I'll continue to look into things until I find out.

I did not notice any problems with speed until after the server came back up on the 20th. I would have definitely brought something up on the speed issue alot sooner if this had occured on the 7th.

For what it's worth...if you choose to display posts in the past 4 hours or earlier, the list comes back quickly -- anything 6 hours and greater causes the large search time.

I know some bugs are extremely hard to track down -- good luck in your search.

For the first time in WEEKS, the speed at which obtaining "Posts in the last 12 hours" is quick. Did you guys finally figure out the problem? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
