And there is the dilemma. Thanks Pickler77 for digging up the break in oil document- that's similar to the one I saw, it doesn't mention the "you're broke in when you stop using oil" part I saw.

We have a document from Deere that says you want 100 hours with the break in oil, and we have another document from Deere that says change the engine oil at 50 hours.

BTW, that Frontier Power Products number is a Canadian part number... the USA part number is TY22088 for a 5-gallon jug, or TY22041 for a gallon. Details at https://jdparts.deere.com/partsmkt/document/english/featbene/OilMaintenanceSolutions.pdf

One of JD's big suits ought to convene a meeting with their engineeers, marketers, tech pub people, and regional reps so everybody could get on the same page on this stuff once and for all. The current situation makes them look a little silly and disjointed on their maintenance policies. Not an unusual thing for a far-flung enterprise the size of Deere, but silly nonetheless.

The manual for the 3005, 2520, and 2720 call for oil and filter after first 50 hours. I do not know why some need it and others do not.

ROFL!
You must work for or own a small business where common sense prevails....in the corporate world common sense is totally gone.

I plan on changing engine oil at 50 , 100 , 200 . then yearly or 200 hours . Why is everyone debating this ???? we have all spent a tremendous amount of money on our equipment , why would you not spend just a few dollars to break it in right ???? No matter what the manual says , it is just very cheap insurance to extend the life of the tractor !!!

I might even do it at 150 hours to ..... New oil and filters is cheap cheap cheap considering the alternative!!!!!!!!!!!!
