Service Manual for BX2200

Hi all,

One thing that really burns my shorts is paying the kind of money that I have for my tractor and then having to pay again to get proper documentation on the product.
What the heck can Kubota have into a manual - $12-15 printing costs? With this type of equipment they really should include this. Petty marketing ploy no doubt.

Anyone know of a PDF of the service manual floating about?

Most people wouldn't even know what to do with the service manual, and I don't know of any manufacturer that includes a service manual with any tractor. $12 x 50,000 (BX22) =$600,000..... Considering that the BX22 is the most expensive of the BX series, I am certain the the amount of BX1500/1800/2200 tractors would push the number over 250,000 units built to date.
I used my tractors serial number to "estimate" the amount of BX units that have been manufactured. Even if we half that amount to 125,000 units, it would still equil 1 million 500 thousand dollars to print that many books at $12 each. I would call that a lot of money for something that isn't going to be used by most people. If I were Kubota, I wouldn't include it either.

Have you priced a service manual for your car or pickup? I always bought them with nearly every vehicle I bought until 1993 and I haven't bought one since. I guess I look at that like any other accessory (FEL, mowers, tilllers, etc.); you can negotiate with the dealer for it at the time of purchase or you can buy it later, but it isn't included with every tractor.

OK, I see your point.
I just kind of feel "nickel and dimed" by mfgs when they charge (sometimes) such outrageous prices for product documentation.
These days I kind of expect companies to at least let you get the info off their website, since this book is probably already a PDF file floating around inside Kubota. No printing costs there.

Hopefully I won't be needing the manual, just nice to have. Perhaps next time I get some "rat hole" money I will break down and buy it.

Since I am going to be getting my new BX23 in the next couple of weeks and I was planning on getting the service manual I am curious, exactly how much do they charge for the service manual?

I don't know where the cost is on service manuals, but I suspect it is not @ the dealership. My brother couldn't even get them included on the last backhoe and the last bulldozer he bought (talking about $75,000-85,000 machines.) The dealer worked with him on all sorts of extras and discounts etc., but would not budge about the service manuals. They did offer to print out anything he needed from the CD manual.

I don’t think you will find a PDF shop manual for your tractor. I asked and searched for one with no luck. It would be a nice customer service for Kubota to offer the shop manuals for download on their website in PDF format. It shouldn't cost Kubota anything other than the loss of printed manual sales. I only know of one source for the PDF version of the parts manual and it’s not the Kubota Corp website.

For routine maintenance the owners manual covers everything pretty well. If you want to do more extensive work on your tractor you will need to cough up the bucks for the printed version of the shop manual. Got mine from Carver and saved a few bucks over what my dealer was charging for it. Like Bird said, the outrageous price for manuals isn’t limited to Kubota. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Does anyone publish the equivalent of a Motors Manual or Chilton Manual for Kubota tractors? I'd like to get one for the 7800, but the dealer cost is 'way too high. Trying to find an alternate source.
