Weebo
After my rims got scratched up and your deal this is why I do everything on my tractor myself now. If my tractor ever breaks down I seriously thinking on just having them come out and fix it instead of taking it in.

I know one of the mechanics at the dealership and will probably just have come out and fix it.

I'm an avid boater (48' Tiara) and can tell you Saltaway has no value unless used immediately. You did the best you could by pressure washing. next thing is to hand wash with some pressure, wax the painted parts and treat the unpainted bits to prevent corrosion. I like Fluid Film? | Corrosion Preventative, Lubricant and Rust Inhibitor
. It's a spray that contains lanolin (sheeps' wool oil). It has a nice consistency, creeps into nooks and crannies and really arrests corrosion.

Well, after looking at all this, it looks to me like damages due to negligence. But, you'd better get the real skinny from more than a sea lawyer.

I bought some of this stuff today....wow. It took off minor rust on a hood latch where is strikes and made the cadmium parts look like new.
Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately that is not salt residue, it is oxidation, and it is not going to come off as it is bonded to the metal. bummer.

Tim is correct. Specifically, it is corrosion of the zinc plating which is there to protect the steel. That's why it's white (similar to when aluminum corrodes/oxidizes).

It will come off with steel wool. HOWEVER, that will reduce the thickness of the zinc and cause rusted steel as opposed to corroded zinc.

Cover it w Fluid Film. Or a light coating of grease.

While everyone can state their opinions regarding this issue, one fact remains--the dealer failed to follow the wishes of his customer. If he couldn't do the whole job as requested, he should have declined doing the work. If that were my tractor, I would be upset too.

Exactly!!!

I don't think you are being to picky, you left instructions and they didn't follow them. I can also say I'm not suprised. The pictures are interesting, and look almost exactly like I thought they would. I'm kind of a car person, and can relate to how you feel. The problem is, what is the dealer going to do? I think cash back would be good, or some kind of service in the future at a huge discount.

A couple of old threads come to mind. One was where a owner took his tires in to be loaded or something, and they got scratched up. His name was Waxman, and I don't think he posts anymore. A lot of people thought he was out of his mind for complaining

Another old thread was someone that got a end loader for a brand new Kubota BX. It looked like some high school kids welding project gone bad. I don't know much about welding, and I thought it looked really bad. A lot of people said the same thing, its just a tractor, its good enough.

Good luck and let us know how it all shakes out.

Dodge thanks for remembering
I have seen the pictures of the OP tractor. If you wash that off and it comes right back, I would bite the bullet and trade that tractor in for a new model in a heartbeat if your goal is to keep it for a lifetime. Otherwise you're going to be disappointed for the rest of your life because it's not going to get better. Let one of the many posters that think you're overreacting or have OCD or think you're a rich hobbyist buy it. Funny thing though the same poster that doesn't care what it looks like and thinks your overreacting all of a sudden won't buy a used tractor like that, unless they get it for a real steal then they can spend the money they saved on their prize car or whatever they have in the garage that no one better get too close to it, never mind scratch it and it only costs half as much as your tractor.

Everyone has something they cherish. Who has the right to decide what is taken care of and what is not but the owner.......

He should have hauled his own tractor.
