Set of D\'s

I wanted to add more D-rings to my trailer so it would be easier to chain down my equipment. I used zinc plated rings so they wouldn't rust as quickly. I first ground off the paint and zinc where I was going to weld.

Re: Set of D\'s

Next I used my Miller 210 MIG to weld 4 rings on.

Re: Set of D\'s

Time to chain it up with Grade 70 transport chain. After I set the binders I will wire the handles so they can't pop open.

Re: Set of D\'s

What will the test be like?

Do you think the rings will hold the 'old' Allis on the trailer?

I don't know, just asking 'aloud'.

Re: Set of D\'s

Actually the Allis only weighs about 4,000 lbs. Each ring is rated at 11,000 lbs so I don't think that strength will be an issue. I drove to a tractor show about 60 miles round trip down a bumpy road with no issues that day.

Re: Set of D\'s

Well this threads title was very intriuging ,especially with pics , Well ah yeah good job /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, Un-Huh /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Nice tractor too!

Just kidding ,Sweet job on the D's , My trailer has them on the rear but it needs a re-paint real bad so no pics til then ...

Oh yeah the miller mig is sweet, I found that even a hammer head like myself could do pretty welds with it. Now I just have a small 110volt unit /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif not a pretty sight....SLOW!!!
