I wanna drive the truck he痴 hauling! Man, what a toy that would be!

Get a job hauling for a big construction firm, or mining operation and you will drive them regularly. Fairly standard for moving big machinery.

Agreed. I do not recall any heavy-hauling tractor that has a lift (tag) axle behind the cab has two drive axles as well. Furthermore, IIRC, most all of the tag axles are not equipped with dual tires on each side, rather, only a single tire on each side.

I guess it depends what part of the country your from tri axle tractors are common around here with dual tires and super single tires

When I mentioned 'a single tire on each side' I meant single as in a standard tire, not a super single tire...

Tag axles ahead of the drive axles are fairly common around these parts (MICHIGAN) on heavy dump bed trucks. Most revolving drum truck mixers used for delivery of truck-mixed concrete are equipped with tag axles and some with a pusher axle. See diagram: Concrete Mixers - McNeilus

Depends on the axle rating higher with dual than a reg single , Most tri axles around here have a tag with super single tires, now all the new ones have steerable tag axle. I'm 76,000 gross on a tri axle dump and the 10wheel dump is 73,000 gross with 12-24 rubber

Depends on the truck and how it's setup.
Around here, there are a fair number that have super singles on the front with a 20,000# front axle (vs the standard 12,000# axle) and duals or super singles on the lift axle (which usually is a slightly smaller diameter tire than the drives).

For the first hour or so. Then there is not many more boring jobs. Just go around in the same circle all day. Every time I ended up in one I could not wait to get back into a highway truck. Preferably one like the one hauling it. Highway dump trucks just go around in bigger circles.
