Looks to me like a trailer hub, not a truck. And I don't see any "makeshift attachment", only a hub, wheel and missing/poorly torqued lug nuts leading to this mess. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a bad situation. I just don't think the officer reported it properly.

If those comments are 'official' by MSP, they are unprofessional at the very least.

The officer might be totally in the dark about "the attachment in the center of the wheel", but I, for one, would be glad he ordered it off the public roads. That's one seriously damaged rim! The officer may well have saved someone's life, or at the least, a serious injury.

Looks like it wasn’t long before those other studs would have broken or the wheel was going to come off one way or the other.

Lumber Car MiniMyth | MythBusters - YouTube

Not sure if this was ever on here. Kind of interesting. Amazing what many cars will take. I guess no differnet from having your MIL in the back seat.

The 800 pounds of concrete was a pretty hefty substitute for the passengers. All the lumber on the roof was complete stupidity. Even stupider is most dedicated building supply stores deliver for free. Lowes charges $50 which is still cheap compared to at minimum ruining your car.

The picture also had the material on an angle down to the trunk putting more weight on the back. The Mythbuster car was more evenly distributed. Not sure how they guy loaded his car with the material on that angle.

I suspect the weight of the lumber crushed the rear part of his car's roof.

The rear window opening in the original photo does look compromised compared the the Mythbuster's vehicle
