Things happen. What if a kid runs out in front of you, because you're driving too fast or can't stop because your brakes aren't designed for the load you're pulling? Oh well, it sucks to be him. What if I stop for a yellow light because I doesn't have time to go through before it turns red. Are you going to run me over, because you are overloaded and can't stop? If there's ten cars behind you, somebody pulls out when they maybe shouldn't have, it's OK to run them over because you are overloaded and can't slow down? Oh well, sucks to be them... but at least you're saving a few dollars by overloading somebody else's truck and pulling a borrowed trailer. You have nothing to lose.

Oh ... so now you are advocating sending your kids out to play in traffic...

Yup you've got the right ideas about how to act on & around highways.

Speaking of witnessing, wife snapped this photo as we drove by. That WAS a pickup truck inside those flames. Didn稚 stick around to see what happened to the trailer.

That trailer can't handle well, assuming neither of those axles steers, what the heck is going on there?

Guessing it's an artifact from an HDR picture mode taking images while moving quickly and part of the picture (the trailer) didn't get resolved correctly.

At first, I thought "that is one weird looking trailer", then I thought "tandem", then I saw the goofy line in the picture going all the way down through the dash. Anyway, glad it wasn't my stuff sitting there toasting.

You can't or it is hard to defend anything that increases stopping distance. ABS light on, over weight, bad tires. Driver not having enough sleep, wet roads, bad roads, sue the state for bad roads! it turns into a what if, well maybe if the ABS on the truck worked he would not have hit the kid running out into the street. It is smoke and mirrors for the lawyers. The fact of the matter is the kid should not have run out into the street from in between the parked cars.

I like the camera in the car idea.

however i do have a question.

if you were one at fault(you made a mistake) and it recorded it, can they use the evidence in court against you.
