Looks like she ran off the road and hit a guide wire?
The gooseneck hitch tower is undoubtedly buckled, and maybe the frame bent too. We had a 5th wheel trailer at work that was in a collision, the tow vehicle collapsed, driver died, and trailer frame was buckled. We built them a new trailer, traded their old one, had it straightened at a collision specialist and replaced the kingpin as a precaution, before it was sold off.I have never seen safety chains on any 5th wheel. But that is an interesting picture with the damage to truck and basically zero to the trailer...
They only show how to do things improperly. Anytime they are hauling anything they are doing it wrong. That's why it's fun to watch. To help keep this thread on topic take a look at The Grand Tour S5E1. It is on Amazon Prime. Not sure how much of it is staged and how much is real but they do show how to improperly tow sheds on skids behind rally cars on icy roads.

Yes and the truck became the crumple zone. The front of the truck is smashed up so I assume it hit something forcing the trailer into the cab.
It would make sense this isn't covered by warranty. That would be an insurance claim. Hopefully nobody was hurt. This was wrecked 20 min after purchase. Dealer said it has the tail light warranty: as soon as it leaves the lot and they cannot see the tail lights, the warrant is over. (Unverified)

Washington couple wreck travel trailer 20 minutes after purchase
Shocking crash photos taken Tuesday afternoon in Washington state show a couple's brand new travel trailer scattered in pieces along an interstate.www.dailymail.co.uk
*note: improper towing caused this crash.
I think the cable is the tow truck.I think you might be right, or something real similar. Crease in the hood and number sure fits the idea. Also looks like a cable coming out from underneath the front end in the picture. Probably to a tow truck cable, not sure.
