Rice Krispy Treat??
Odd that they loaded the container doors forward.
Every one I've seen on I-5 are doors rear.
Patrick

Occasionally seen, usually two 20' containers on a 40' chassis. The tractor driver jackknifes the trailer to allow access to the forward-facing doors.

The lack of visible securing indicates the old "That's heavy; it's not going anywhere." attitude.

An oldie but a goodie I’ve posted before. I drove over this bridge a couple days before the concrete truck fully loaded did this. As I recall the bridge was posted at 10,000 pounds.

What's a readymix truck (without the overload wheels) weigh? 80K?

Max, maybe. But more often loaded 66k - 68k, at least the company I've used.

The yellow sign to the right pretty much sums it up! :)

Not related to towing, but even better is the sign above it.

I have seen TONS of these popping up that say "Left on Green Arrow Only" or "Left Must Yield on Yellow Arrow or Solid Green" (also annoying "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" at intersections that do not have "All Ways" plaques under the stop sign so are only 2-way stops). Aren't these all basic driving rule markers that are listed in the manual and everyone is supposed to know to pass their driver's test? Why do we need to start adding other signs below them that spell it out for the imbeciles -- how about we just take away their licenses instead?!?!

Are you sure they're really basic 2-way stops, in which the two ways stopping are regular cross-traffic? If so, I agree that is pretty stupid and needlessly redundant... therefore confusing or distracting.

However, around here we only see those "opposing traffic does not stop" or "cross traffic does not stop" signs when the configuration of stop signs is non-standard. We have a lot of old 18th century farm roads and even 16th century Indian trails, that have become very busy country roads or even highways, and it's pretty common to see things like turning traffic having the right of way, while the straight-thru path has a stop sign, as the turning traffic is actually the "main" road. Those are the cases where we see these extra "traffic does not stop" warning signs.

The first point on turn arrows is more recent around here as they have added things like the yellow arrow on some intersections. The old way of doing it around here with green arrows was if you had an intersection with a green arrow for left turn, you could ONLY go on the green arrow. So you were stuck sitting there at midnight with nobody on the road (well, if you wanted to be complaint...) until the arrow went green. On a lot of intersections now, they have added a way for you to go if it is clear with either the yellow arrow or the plain green light (not arrow). So since it is a change from how they did it for 50+ years, sure I can see them posting a sign alongside that to explain the new method.

I only see the cross-traffic does not stop ones at intersections where it sure LOOKS like it would be a 4-way stop but isn't. We have one in town that is a 3 way stop on a 4-way intersection as that 4th side is a very short stretch with not much room to stop, so they let them continue. But you wouldn't expect it, so the caution sign is a smart move, IMO.
Edit: Ha! Winterdeere and I posting at the same time..

An adjacent town has a 3-way stop at the bottom of a steep hill. The 4th street is the one coming down the hill. At first I thought it was a concession to motorists who did not realize their brakes were less effective descending and could not stop before entering the intersection. After a friend told me he would blow a 4-way stop because the other guy was supposed to stop, I saw the 3-way as away to make motorists stop because they would not know which road, other than theirs, was not obligated to stop. The fallacy is that the selfish motorist probably doesn't think that far ahead.

I also had a very close friend who used to never stop at 4-way stops. He'd argue that if he ever had an accident, it's because "someone else screwed up, too!" Maybe not coincidentally, he died as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
