Height. Loading an ATV or mower on a low trailer is much easier and safer than in a high truck bed.

I got very practiced at loading 2 dirtbikes in the back of a 4x4 SuperDuty. Knew where to tie the ramp. Had a painter's step for myself, walking beside, drove the dirtbike up (engine running, slipping clutch). Much harder with friend's Rekluse equipped KTM 300 than my Husaberg FE450 with traditional clutch.

For example I have a Yamaha FJR1300. I would not run it up the ramp into the back of the truck. I would if I had a loading dock at both ends of my route. My Kendon Dual Stand Up trailer is very low to the ground and has hauled everything up to a GL1800.
I have a 16ft dove tail landscape trailer. As I get older, more stuff gets hauled with that versus the truck bed.

It's much easier to grab something heavy with the dolly and wheel it down the tailgate ramp versus trying to lift it down from the truck bed.

Now that I have another tractor, it's eaven easier to unload

My truck came with the bed rhino lined. I've had all sorts of stuff in that bed. Stone, trash, barbed wire, scrap metal, etc....
My trailer is lined with 3mm aluminium diamond plate, to protect the epoxy resin coat on the plywood floor.

Its only through TBN that ive heard of Rhino liner. I will order some to spray on the inside of the mudguards of the tractor i am restoring... 👌

That stuff when installed properly in the bed of a truck, pretty much makes it bullet proof Hard to dent, scratch, etc.....

It's a non slip surface though, so it makes sliding something into the bed a challenge.

There is a newer 4 door jeep wrangler in our area that had the whole interior and exterior rhino lined

Thats why, when i rebuilt and regalvanised my 1991 Hapert trailer, i went with 195/50R13 commercial grade low profile tires, for a deck height barely exceeding 2 feet, with ramps. We've used it to haul wrapped square bales, drop the sides and nothing is in the way.

The Nissan Navara at work, the pickup bed only got used to load small things you could also throw in a van, because the dropside trailer behind it, loads much easier with a forklift.

I hope it dampens some resonance in this 1970s tractor cab..

Good luck. We have a modern Doosan forklift with cab. It vibrates something fierce on occasion.

My $50k Tesla is AWD and has a trailer hitch.

Today my F-150 hauled me to the pharmacy, McDonalds, and picked up 3 gallons of gasoline for the lawnmower.

By and large the used trucks on dealer lots here have no scratches on the truck beds or signs a drawbar has disturbed the rust on the hitch receiver.
Our one ton is hooked to a trailer 95% of the time
I use my 1/2 ton truck to pull trailers almost every weekend. It pulls my 7000 lb. landscape trailer, loaded usually with logs (we heat our house with wood), but sometimes loaded with my tractor or yard waste. It also pulls my two boat trailers, for sailing at the local lake or intercoastal waterway thru NJ.

It has a towing capacity around 13,000 lb., which is plenty for my needs. Not sure why you'd call that a "ridiculous poser object".

Mine is configured from factory with 3.93 posi rear, heavy-duty rear springs, and trailer brakes. 5.7L Hemi thru a ZF 8HP70 tranny gets the job done, at least for my weekend warrior needs. And if the weather is too bad to drive my SRT car, I'll also pick up kids and groceries in that truck. 😛

That said, after picking on you, I do agree in general with the point you were probably trying to make. Too many buy a pickup truck just for image, when a sedan or a wagon might actually suit their needs much better. Personal choice, I don't care what anyone else drives, even if it is a little silly.

How can a pickup help anyone’s image?

I'll take a bigger shop and more storage space any day over a bigger house.

That is why we live in a Barndominium.

I'll buck that trend. I'm not towing 10k dump trailers, but I do routinely tow a 7k lb. trailer with my 1/2 ton RAM. It was factory configured with proportional trailer brake controller, heavier rear springs, a high-ratio (3.93?) posi rear, and pretty stout hitch receiver. It also wears 10-ply rated LT tires, not the usual P-rated crap that most have on their 1/2 ton trucks.

I'm not pretending it's a replacement for a 3/4 ton, especially on brakes, but I'm not relying on the truck to stop the trailer anyway. My trailer has brakes on all axles (PA law), not just one axle like most factory trailers, and I maintain the brakes and wiring in good working order. I also test and adjust the gain on the trailer brakes every time I start a tow. For any one-time emergency stop, tire traction becomes the bigger limiting factor than brakes anyway, the 1500-series brakes will lock them up just as well as the HD brakes on the larger trucks for any one-time emergency stop.

Semi tractors pull trailers 3x their own weight at highway speeds, all day every day. I'm not one of these guys who believes he needs a truck heavier than his trailer, especially when I only do real heavy loads over local roads.
When guys tell me your truck has to weigh more than the trailer I ask them hope this can be done then.

Each has it's air brakes working. Plus the 5th wheel distributes the weight onto the drive axles, rather than the bumper.

This has been posted here before, but always worth repeating:

All right, the USA is big, it has 333 milion inhabitants. Despite having that much heads to choose from, they still have two elderly stumbling for president (you cant call that "running" for president when they are aged 75+) I dont know Harris, i dont have a dog in this fight, but i hope the Republicans put up a better candidate against Harris...

To get back to the point this video is trying to make (that Americans know very little about life in the rest of the world because they are the 3rd largest country in the world, after Russia and Canada) it is a lame excuse, because they wage wars to bring THEIR style of statehood to the Middle East, which results in even worse terrorist rulers take the place of moderate dictators. I am trying to understand what makes Americans tick. I have friends in Finland, Germany, Lithuania. They all have a different view of the world culturally, and i appreciate those differences.

....and the middle east, my friends, their culture is a whole different box of firecrackers... in that culture, Christian or Druze minorities enjoy the most freedom under a moderate dictator who keeps the Muslim majorities at bay...
I had a colleague from Turkey. He is from an Islamic religious minority, Alawite, and his people were subject to genocide even in the 1980s. Muslims are like Christians in Northern Ireland, where Catholics and Reformed killed each other well into my childhood. I never knew, untill my conversations with my Turkish colleague went a little more in-depth..

Meanwhile my cousin in Canada said, we got Deeres produced in Waterloo USA, and Deeres produced in Mannheim, Germany. If Waterloo produces more than they can sell, they sell them in Canada. If they cant keep up, they sell them that are made in Germany. Americans only want those made in the USA, but Canadians give a better price for a 20 year old Deere built in Mannheim (or Mayhem as he said) than one from Waterloo, because their build quality is better. 🤷‍♂️

It wont help the image of them in YOUR mind. (Nor mine) Yet in THEIR mind, they are someone if they make some noise with their V8 pickup.

Same as the retards who kick their VW Rabbit or Honda Civic with inwards leaning wheels and an airfoil still in gray primecoat, and their license plate rattling along with the subwoofer bass box that takes up their entire trunk space, into the rev limiter on the local Mcdonalds parking lot... To me it sounds like a fart with some liquid content, but in their mind it makes them the cool kids...
