Looking at the first pic, I thought the driver was a Monty Python fan.

Then I later realized the parrot had changed sides of the car.

It was indeed a live bird. The owner was napping with the windows mostly rolled up and the bird freely climbing about on the car untethered. Only about 50F outside with the sun setting.

I've never seen a parrot outside of captivity..... but if I had to guess, I wouldn't expect them to hang out where it is 50F.

Might have gotten up early and was waiting for the driver to hit the road back down to Florida!:laughing:

It was a truck stop restaurant parking lot just before dusk and was getting chilly. Guy in the car asleep, bird on the car climbing around. Wings were clipped, so it couldn't fly away. It was actually a Macaw (bigger than a parrot and more colorful) and I would never have expected to see it either. I generally don't take a lot of pictures of stuff, but that was a Kodak moment in my opinion.

Macaw are indeed 'true parrots'.

I've always seen Macaws specifically called Macaws. What I have generally seen called Parrots are smaller, less colors, and most have been mostly green. I've never really studied anything on the tropical birds, but have seen them in zoo-type exhibits, pet stores, TV, and books. First time I've seen one "in the wild" and surely never thought I'd see one "loaded" in/on a vehicle in such a way.

Saw this on the way home from the city last night. Pulled up to traffic waiting for construction (that season in alberta is almost over finally) and the wife says "wow that looks like a bright individual there".
