Are you kidding ? Renault seats are like tube frames with some cloth pulled over it, they give no support what so ever. Together with the steering wheel being too close to the pedals and non adjustable, a tall person is broken after an hour ride in a French car.

They build good motors though. Volvo used them in their smaller cars. Just without the notoriously unreliable Renault electronics, so in Volvos they did a quite reliable job.

I'm 6'4 and was pleasantly surprised driving from Salzburg to Lake Como and back... the diesel was very impressive as to torque and economy.

Renault sold over 5 million of the 5 series prior and owns a little less than half of Nissan and even a stake in Daimler...

My uncle always owns Peugeot and also found the cabin/ride more than satisfactory.

Peugeot - that was the name I was trying to remember...... a high-school friend's family had one. Definitely different than what I was used to seeing back-when..... long-travel suspension was common in small French cars, but not much else - gave a relatively small car (esp. back then) a really decent ride.

The same long-travel suspensions gave you some wild lean-angles. A crazy enough driver could have them cornering on what felt like their door-handles. Definitely different.

I've never owned a French car but did see an old Citroen 2CV that was hauling wood from the forest... so much I wondered how the car could move...

Our family had a Peugeot 403 Familial in the early 1960's which was an eight seat station wagon. As I recall it was a pretty reliable vehicle.

Can you guys split your old car discussion into a separate thread?

I'll nominate myself for a second time in here. I towed over my truck's capacity. I'm guessing this is about 12000lbs strapped to the back of my F150...

Handled it fine...

Needs more tongue weight. :D
