I might take the lazy way out sometimes, but if I'm going to put one chain on a piece of equipment it's going to be in the BACK, but hey, what do I know? It's not like I have learned my towing skills from experience or anything... hauling stupidly random farm equipment as dense as possible to reduce trips has been a 3+ time a year thing for me for the last about 4 years... I've gotten better at hauling random junk :)

Well under the circumstances pictured here that would be the better way but you could put the bucket all the way forward so the machine can’t move forward and then use one chain to prevent it from moving backwards. Not that I know anything about that. Just making an assumption.

^^ The reference to bad ways to haul lumber reminded me of something I saw on Canadian TV years and years ago. It's simply called 'The Plank' and is a 1967 British TV 'short' running about 50 minutes. Shows two guys carrying a plank through British streets. I remember it as being absolutely hilarious in a Benny Hill/Three Stooges/Laurel & Hardy sort of way, but I haven't seen it in years. Looks like it's available to stream if you have a way to do it.

Florida tidal swing is pretty small in many areas - only 1.5 feet or so.

Boston Harbor is around 10 feet, and in parts of Maine it can be 20 feet! BIG problem..... Only saw one sinker last season, though, a pickup.

Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. Average tide is 38 feet!

With that much tide, I bet the low tide smell is God awful

A large part of these are utility trailers with a long load of lumber hanging out the back.

Holy cr@p!

So many of those clips, it looks like everything might finally be ok, they are nearly slowed down, and then BOOM, a rollover is just how the trailer wants to finish things. From save-able to a complete salvage disaster in the final couple seconds.

While loading error is surely to blame for most of those calamities.... I also see a lot of poor reactions from the drivers. Especially the ones who just point their car right off the road into a ditch after the sway has begun. Sad.

I guess I wont judge though. I put 16' 4x6s on my 12' utility trailer once, my buddy helped me out and was pulling it with his truck. I asked him to drive slow and be super cautious on the highway to get home, knowing it was a bit sketchy, but he instantly forgot my advice and floored it up to 70mph when merging into traffic. Promptly started a nasty sway oscillation; thankfully no one was right next to us at the time. I'm also glad my immediate instinct was to notice it, and yell out "DONT SLAM THE BRAKES". We coasted to the next off ramp and the wood didn't hardly budge, but we had to change our shorts. I don't haul with negative tongue weight anymore.

Just shows how some people apparently don't have a functioning brain.

It sucks to be in an accident, but in a way sucks worse when it just barely touches you but you have to go through all the trouble. Best, when you escape untouched. Some of those were incredibly close calls.

I do not know what tidal areas you have been to but here they do not smell at all.
