you would think so :laughing: but with the back of the suburban loaded to the ceiling, that little trailer is absolutely invisible until it is at a pretty sharp angle.

The fulcrum point is far behind the rest axle which isn't ideal for back

Horse trailer comes unhitched

A horse trailer with two horses on board came unhitched from the truck pulling it at 3 p.m. ....

The trailer landed in a roadside ditch, but there were only minor injuries to the two horses on board, according to Fire District no. 3, which responded. There were no injuries to the occupants of the truck.

I've seen that on several Chevy trucks of era. Rusty frame rails? or do the brackets just bend over time?

Here's an odd one I saw recently. Porsche Cayenne towing a utility trailer. Mower was hale in place by a bungee in the back and 1" strap across the front of the trailer.

The Chevys have a hole on bottom of frame where tow hitch frame stops.

That hole makes frame bend down if rear ended. Ask me how I know. I discovered this about my 2000 model truck and have made a few dollars repairing the damage of aftermarket hitches and bumpers. You can have all the heavy iron you want to your pickup and fail. Chevy bumpers and hitches are designed to be fastened together. To stabilize the hitch and keep it from bending bottom of frame. That bend point is the hitch, the hole, and leaf mounts all there together.



I have welded ones that are on custom bumpers and made mounts for factory.



My bumper I built Friday. 4th bed and third bumper on this truck. Two custom welding beds and two factory beds. Lessons learned- never sale a factory bed, and always attach hitch to bumper.

In some cases the frame of the receiver hitch can obstruct to intended crush points on the conventional frame and cause additional injuries and damage.
