Today I saw a load that came closest to disaster I have ever seen. It was a tandem axel box truck being towed by a large tandem axel tow truck. He had lifted up the back about 18 inches. I don't know how he had the back hooked, but it was incorrectly secured. He went around a turn, and the whole box truck pivoted on the back hook point far enough the wheels hit the road resulting in a cloud of white smoke.

And there's something about the weld there that bothers me just about more than anything.

What's the problem? Looks to me he salvaged a coupler attached to a piece of pipe from a prior trailer, and folded the pickup truck's chassis rails over the top of the pipe to carry the weight. Then a little bit of weld so the pipe can't slip out. He'll be ok so long as he doesn't try to accelerate too fast.

I saw this guy today. He wasn't hauling anything wrong, but I thought it was funny. He had a 1 ton truck with a wood dump bed, and his window guard was a dish drainer held in place by a bungee cord. View attachment 434087

Not to mention the bolt that should be in the click pin hole to keep the latch from popping up and open. Heck, that will likely pop open first and he will never get a chance to test the weld.

Sad isn't it? You don't have to travel to far or look too hard to find something to post on this thread. At a big box store to pick up supplies.

Trailer light are not plugged in.

Hmmm on your side of the world, the lowest quality grade of welding is also classified as "bird crap welds" ??
