Growing up we had a local plumber with an undermount carrier for long lengths of pipe... the only issue was he needed just about a full car length ahead to load/unload...

Thats how refugees try to get into the UK (UK unemployment benefits are the highest of Europe) at the Calais strait. Truckers avoid the channel tunnel, because they are held responsible for whatever comes on their truck, while the refugees climb on top of the axles or spare tire, or even cut open their trailers curtains to get aboard...

Went to the local building supply house. When I pull in they are crawling under a truck. Ok no big deal. Until I realize they are tying 2x8's under it. I'm guessing they bought 20'ers. A guy I knew in downeast Maine on the NB border told me that underslung was they way they hauled old telephone poles back in the 1950's and 1960's. Said everyone did it and it was no big deal but you had to be careful driving on slopes. I'm sure they went very slow.
