No pictures, but I got a good laugh and head shake at Lowes last night. Guy has a mid sized car with a trailer hitch and a 5x8 (roughly) trailer with a tailgate. Boards that are bought are longer than trailer. So he places them at tailgate of trailer and let's them run long forward. Oops. Hitting the car. So open the trunk. Slide boards in then place them at tailgate. I went in the store as he was strapping them down. Taking away the pivot point of the trailer hitch. Told my wife. I just hope he doesn't need to make a sharp turn.

In his defence, it's the only way for the forklift to get it on the trailer. I bet step 2 is the forklift "rear ending" the load to push it forward where it belongs, at least to some degree.

The better way is to use 2 forklifts, one holding the load as shown in prior photo, and then the second off pushes them into the trailer. Learned it from the other blue box store. Jon

I went into Lowes the other day. There was a car (yes, I said CAR) outside loading lumber. He was putting what looked like 16' x 1" x 8" boards into a car with a back hatch. With the boards pushed all the way over the seat to the windshield there was still enough of the boards sticking out the back they were nearly touching the road. They were also "fanned out", not stacked neatly one-on-top-of-the-other, since he had them jammed on top of the dash. He was looking for some "red flags" to put on the ends of the boards.

He wasn't there when I left.

Here is a picture...

I got to drive my then future wife to her prom in her father's caddy that was just like that. Same color, too. This was in 1980. Her folks used to delivery newspapers to carriers with the caddy. Most folks with jobs like that used trucks! They heated their house with wood, so all wood was brought home in the Caddy's trunk as well. :) That trunk was HUGE!

That looks like the 100% proper way of snow towing. At least up until the speeds where a rooster-tail forms.

That looks both proper and fun! (Perhaps a helmet next time if any speed is involved, but I made it 17 years in the snow with only a toque for head protection!) I will share some safety wisdom on a similar type of deal that may be helpful for my brothers and sisters up north.

When I was growing up, a family friend was out with his kids doing the same thing, but with a wooden planked toboggan. While towing it around, a rock hit the bottom of one of the planks and broke it in two. The momentum pushed the sharp splintered board into the upper thigh of the father who was riding with his kids. Sadly, and without knowing what really happened, they pulled the plank out on the spot, and he did not make it to the hospital since a major artery had been severed. It was a very tragic reminder of how fragile we are and how hauling and towing anything can result in a dangerous situation if precautions are not taken. Stay safe all!
