Had the driver made one swerve, his load was coming off. Nothing to keep it from shifting sideways.

I was daydreaming in the passenger seat when my wife said "um, is that right?"

Whoa!

I've used a cable puller to tie down a load, but I also had three big tie-down straps; and, the cable puller wasn't/isn't one of those cheap jobbies (The More Power Pullerョ, Portable Winch, Cable Puller, Come Along Winches | By The Wyeth-Scott Company).

Whoa! That thing is substantial! I want one!

Congratulations on having a wife who actually notices things! :drink:

I've got one of these and it is as good as it looks. I winched a full size farm tractor up onto ramps and on a trailer with one. I added a pipe for easier pulling but the winch didn't even break a sweat. Everyone should own one.

Nice, and a nice price.

Mine paid for itself with one use. Had a 331 Bobcat (9k lb excavator) stuck. I'd rented it and it was looking like I'd need to miss a day of work and ring up another day of rental. Hooked the puller to the back of my truck (statically parked on firm ground) and, INCH BY INCH, cranked that 331 back out a widened and deepened ditch! Not going to try pushing my luck with the 18k lb excavator that I rent from time to time! (this one never gets near any soft spot!)

I bought this puller after jamming up a cheap-o one. And I'd had my wife cranking on this cheap-o one helping get my tractor unstuck; it was one of these times that I realized that I didn't want to trust some cheap-o tool under a big load to be used by my wife (or anyone).

A word of caution: they're 26 lbs! (the wire one; synthetics are significantly lighter- I have a lot of brush and was worried about the synthetic rope getting frayed up)

View attachment 482320 we haul thousands of bales a year with this set up. Only strap if we are crossing state highways. There is a stop on the back you set the bales against, and we have never had a problem just take your time.

My step daughter had her neck broken by a round bale falling off a set up like that. Landed on the top of her Beetle convertible......lucky she wasn't killed. Hope that doesn't happen to anyone in your community.
