Seen in Oklahoma City Oklahoma I-35 at about 65 mph to 70 mph. Wheels on this log splitter looked smaller than my wheelbarrow tires. About 3:30 pm in the afternoon so traffic was flowing pretty well. The Ford 4 x 4 did seem to be able to handle the load and tow it just fine.

No Worries...... as long as the Not for Highway Use tires don't blow, or sleeve bushings don't seize.

Can see buddy driving along saying "Who's setting off fireworks back there ?".

I can't get my splitter up to 45 mph.

But ...... not worried about tires.

I've seen a woodsplitter abandoned next to a guardrail on a freeway here.

Mines says the same, standard small trailer bearings and tires, guessing the speed limit is more due to not having suspension and the stress it puts on the frame or for the people going on long trips at high speeds.

I wouldn't have a problem doing 55-60 for short periods with mine on a smooth road, it's only a couple miles to my parents or friends house, usually stay on the back roads at 45 but the main road is 55 and maybe 2-3 miles if I want to get there quicker.

I have hauled a 35 ton husky log splitter 4 times and was more stressful than over loading my 1/2 ton pickup with round bales.

I can't see the stupid thing, backing up is almost impossible, constantly stressing it's gonna tip over in a turn or when it hits a bump from the bounce. I just hate towing a log splitter all around, I have never been as concerned about speed. Best way to tow one is hooked up to a ATV and drive the ATV on a larger trailer lol.

I have towed one a few times. It sucks because you can't see it and towing it is the safest option I have. My Mule won't fit on my lawnmower trailer with the splitter hitched, and the splitter was wider than my Mule making it extremely difficult to load on my GN. Even if the wheel bases were the same that would be a sketchy venture. I guess I could haul it on my rollback, but that's a lot of effort for something so easily towed.

When I tow my splitter it is behind my Suzuki Samurai and no problems seeing it... which is why I use the Sammy to tow it...

I've borrowed one a couple of times and with no suspension and Michigan roads, it spends half its time in the air while being towed.
