That trailer will have 7k axles, so you can be at 14k on the trailer axles, plus put another 2k on the tongue. Not sure on how much gravel that is, but he may not be terribly overloaded. He sure needs a dump trailer.

Around here, it's $90/hr for a dump truck and driver, and the pit is about 20 minutes away. It does not pay to haul your own gravel with a pickup and trailer in our situation unless you just need a yard or two.

It was 10 tons for free and the guy loaded it for me. I did use the blue tractor to get as much as I could and flat shoveled off the rest. Around here it's $400.00 a load.

Hood was up just to make sure everything survived the 40 miles of interstate and hills. The little 240,000 mile 350 did just fine, pulled 65 on the interstate no problem. It's a 96 Chevy cab chassis and drags that blue tractor around like its not even back there.

The stove pipe is pretty cool, huh?

The dog is a drop off that showed up about 9 years ago, didn't chase the chickens so he was allowed to live.

I have an equipment trailer with two 7K axles.
Somebody offers to load washed gravel on my trailer, and it is all FREE....
Watch how quickly I will blue tarp my trailer, and haul it home.

Please do not stop short in front of a loaded Semi. Also check your mirrors when coming on to a sudden traffic jam.

Better to be in the ditch than to be involved in this. Prayers for all affected.

Chevy Suburban Merges in Front of 18-Wheeler, Kills Baby

"...The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) say a fatal wreck involved four tractor-trailers and a small pickup truck, killing two people GSP says a tractor-trailer ran into the back of a second tractor-trailer. That second tractor-trailer then a drove over a silver pickup, crushing it, and ran into a third tractor-trailer. GSP said the third tractor-trailer hit a fourth one..."

If I read this correctly, the Green semi-truck was re-ended and forced on top of the pickup? Not sure how you can avoid something like that...

Holy crap, a silverado wadded up like that? I wonder what had been in front of it before that photo was taken.... a dump truck, garbage truck or the like? Something real hard with some substantial mass, no doubt.

The trailer in front in the picture is what the pickup was smashed against I would guess.

I hate driving near semis. They've tried to crush me several times by changing lanes right into me. I've managed to escape, usually with lots of tire smoke and hitting the shoulder.

For sure. Several pages back I posted a photo of a Suburban pulling a trailerload of gasoline cans that rearended something and burned up. The little Honda that would have been crushed between them ditched to the shoulder just in time.

Whatever rearended the green semi here must have been heavy and going full speed to launch this rig forward with so much force.

Thanks for the extra flavor teg. Sure would have been hard to avoid this one indeed. I think the lesson here might be to leave a good amount of space in front of you when gridlocked like that. Also turn your wheels towards the ditch. I actually position the minivan angled towards the shoulder or the ditch in these kinds of lockups. Learned it from riding motorcycles on the street when I was younger. I probably should do it when alone in the truck too after seeing these pictures.

Too many folks pull their motorbikes right up behind the car in front of them and leave their front wheel straight. What would have been a small fender bender for cars or trucks can take the life of a person on a motorbike caught between two automobiles. Just move to the side and make sure your front tire is pointed away from the bumper in front of you. Stay safe all.
