Here in Florida, F350 and up are treated like commercial. ( I think anything over a certain weight ), and of course renew in December, vs your birthday...

In Texas, my last 5 F-350's have been registered as "Farm Trucks" and license fee is $60 /year. Inspection fee is $7.50 per year.

I pay $60 for 16,000 pound tags on my dump truck. No other fees or inspection ( besides insurance ). My other trucks have $25 a year plates.

Similar here, although I don't know the details. Diesel trucks used only to haul harvest seasonally were given a 'farm' waiver on some of the fees and smog regs.


I met a farm owner who after much hassle got 'antique' plates for a COE Chevrolet like this along with minimal registration fees. It looked to be garage-kept, clean and original, no apparent restoration.

He said he would get a big ticket if he hauled anything since that license class is for show vehicles only.

I helped a club member restore a Model AA flatbed truck for use in his business...

The 1930 truck was exempt from weight fees and had car tags.

He used it for years to haul 12' carpet rolls from the depot to his carpet warehouse...

The Stretch Vans could only handle one roll with the rear doors open...

That old Model AA easily transported the multiple 12' rolls the 4 miles from the depot

He did rent it to a production company in the making of the movie Tucker... it has about 2 seconds on camera...

I could see someone up in Alaska using that for deliveries/moving equipment what with all the shallow bays. Little pricey though
