That's a good video. I'm guilty of getting complacent about trailer height too. Here at work we have a 2 car enclosed deckover. Its easy to forget that its which is taller than the average car trailer and has roof vents as well.

A couple times while on road trips in urban areas I've sailed under low bridges out of habit and a moment later asked myself "wait, how tall was that!?"

I recently modified the racks on my service truck, they top out at 8'3". Last weekend while out on a call, I was about to go under a local bridge when I realized that the clearance is only 8" I brought that F250 to a rapid stop! I go under that bridge all the time, but this was *almost* the first time in the F250. I'm putting a big label on the dash, just in case one of our crews is using it......
11 FOOT 8 - The Canopener Bridge One of my favorite websites, the owner of the site is a business genius, check out the "art".
My local bridge is lower, but no cameras.........

Fantastic entertainment! Thanks. The "art" is, indeed, brilliance in retail.

I'm thinking that it's the size of the trailer tires (it's a low deck-over, so less clearance to have larger tires/wheels). Tires/wheels on car look standard.

I know of someone who tows a 2,000 lb trailer behind a MKIV TDI Beetle. Car is significantly modified, has huge over-size brakes and lots of more power, handles the trailer very well.

I ONCE pulled my 16' utility trailer with my F250 without the trailer brakes hooked up. Trailer's weight is 2k lbs. Load was only 1k lbs. I did NOT like the feel of things when I came off the freeway and was slowing down! No concerns with hitting anything/anyone, but you could sure feel the trailer pushing on the end of the truck! Trailer brakes make a HUGE difference.

Going out on a limb here but I towed my 15' 6" ski outboard with my 1930 Model A at Tahoe...

No issues and drew quite a crowd every time I went down the launch....

Quick story. Wife wants to go to beach with friends, total of 15 people, only have two vehicles that are 4 wheel drive. So, my Jeep and her pathfinder get loaded up like pack mules, the jeep doesn't care, it was built for this stuff, both vehicles have luggage racks in the receiver hitch. Get almost to the beach, convoy of 4 vehicles. Plan is to stop, take gear to beach, then ferry additional people to beach from parking area. The wife and her friends decide to stop at a store, to pick some stuff up, I drive out on the sand to offload the jeep and my passengers when I get a call, I need to go back. I baha'd back across the beach and headed to their location.
I find the Pathfinder on the side of the road, with the rack lying in the road. Drivers swerving around it, horns blaring......Apparently while at Walmart or wearever, someone decided to steal the lock pin. 7 miles after leaving the store, it fell off. I know for a fact I pinned it before the trip, because I had to steal a pin from another vehicle. The ladies gave a valiant effort to move it, but the weight of 3 coolers, chairs, boogie boards and associated what not proved beyond their efforts.
And, she managed to get the Pathfinder stuck in the sand when we left that night, someone pulled her loose before I got turned around.....car full of women, in bathing suits, on the beach, stuck.......
Locks pins, hitches....it doesn't matter, around here, if it's not locked down, someone will steal it. I once caught a guy trying to steal the hitch off my jeep, while I was in it eating my lunch! That didn't turn out well for him.....
I done some weird stuff in my time, sometimes my stuff looks like the Beverley Hillbillies are coming to town.....never once lost a load.......touch wood.

...someone decided to steal the lock pin...
Was on an overnight canoe trip on the Neuse, put in at I-95 Selma and parked our truck down Richard Bridge Rd. (Sat. night, local gathering spot).

:grumpy:
Pretty sure they did not "need" my lynch pin, also, pretty sure they just thought it was funny as heck.

I always double check my connection and that was when I noticed it was missing. Trailer had 8 canoes... and most likely would have been funny... to them. Sorry I had to disappointed them... :(

I knew a guy who had a nicely restored Model A that could have towed just about anything.....

It had a 455 Olds in it, with the appropriate transmission and rear axle.

Had a friend now gone that towed a two horse trailer all over with his bought new Willys 1950 Pickup... he did have a brake set up for the trailer and re-powered the Pickup with a 283... looked good going down the road...

No pictures but true story...

I was on the SF Bay San Mateo Bridge in my 100% stock 1930 Model A pickup... the bridge is miles long.

Another guy was driving a hot rod Model A coupe with a Chevy V8... nice guy and very nice car.

Well... all of a sudden the group come to a halt as the only Hot Rod stalled... turned out to be fuel problem.

Anyway... I pull around and back up and tow him off the bridge... plenty of people were taking pictures and giving me the thumbs up... all stock 1930 Model A towing a very nice Street Rod...

Got off the interstate tonight on my way back to office behind a guy driving a flatbed tow truck with a skid steer on it. The skid steer was facing rearwards, at the back of the bed. He had one chain hooked from the top of the bucket to the center rear of the bed (and was loose, with no binder, just looped to the back of the bed), and he had his winch cable tow hook hooked over the cutting edge of the bucket going forwards (and under the bucket). The tow cable was also loose going forwards. He had an atv 4 wheeler sitting crossways on the front half of the bed with no tie downs on it at all. And he was towing this down the interstate.

No pics, as I was driving in traffic and didn't want to risk it.
