That it will act like a sail when going down the road?

Yes, it might do that some. I wouldn't think it would be dangerous or anything though. I can't see that it would catch any more wind, or have a higher center of gravity, or be any heavier, than a large truck cap full of tools. Those are absolutely everywhere.

WOW! That's the best I ever saw. Guy must have really loved his F150. By the way he treated it, he probably didn't own much of it though! That actually hurts to watch.

That video has gone viral lol, it’s been all over FB and I think I have seen it on the local news. I remember reading that the driver in that video was arrested and was facing charges for what he did.

From:
Truck Repossession Fail || ViralHog - YouTube

"Shortly after this vehicle had been taken away from the registered owner, that person chased our employee a couple of miles and then hopped in his pick up truck to supposedly grab some personal belongings. The rest is what you see on video. Due to a chain being attached to the truck he was not able to drive off. The police showed up and arrested the guy. This video was filmed by the specialized towing crew out of the Miami metro area."

Can't fix stupid. Nothing like making more trouble for yourself.

Most vehicles that I drove in the last thirty years had spring brakes on every axle except the steer axle and drop axle(s). Probably due the hilly terrain in the west. The last truck I drove had 6 axles with spring brakes. The shop guys were adament about fully stopping the truck before applying the parking brake to keep their work load lighter.

Years ago I was coming off White Pass in Washington in a 79 COE International. I was in my normal downhill gear with the Jake brake on and doing fine when the Jake just stopped working. I started picking up speed but managed to keep from overrevving the engine. My brakes were all smoking pretty good when I approached the runaway truck ramp. I wasn't quite a runaway so I debated using it. Not knowing how much more downgrade was ahead of me I prepared to use it. When I came around the bend and approached the ramp I noticed a forest service road parallel to the ramp that was about a 5% upgrade and opted for that. I rolled up that a few hundred yards and used my remaining brakes to come to a stop. I let thing cool down for a hour or so and backed onto the highway and then prceeded the rest of the way down into Packwood. That was the one and only time I had a near runaway.
Got parked for the night and found a wire had broken between a switch and the solenoid that actuated the Jake.

What some of you are calling "spring brakes" is what we called "maxi brakes" back in the day.

Maxi-cans was what the mechanics called them. The steer and drop axles were just brake cans.
