Kinda wish I had taken a picture, but I have been at auctions all weekend (local one is two day, 3 times per year) and there's always some doozies... Today there was someone that bought a whole bunch of livestock panels, they stacked them one on top of the other for about 5' on their flat deck trailer, some of them bent up a bit. How did they tie them down? Two 1" ratchet straps... they later added another 5 panels or gates or something directly on top and added 2 more 1" straps.
My loading technique might be unique (I've learned over the years...) but it is normally secure... had a compact truck ladder rack upside down in the F350 (one 2" strap holding it down, 1" would have done but didn't bring enough), a Ford 4000 on the tongue of the trailer (18' deck, rear tires between the axles), some steel rack in front of that, chain around the front axle of the tractor to the stake pockets, rear chain to the top link pin back to stake pockets behind the rear trailer axle and a loader with bucket behind the tractor with one chain on the sharp end and a 2" strap on the pivot end pulling it to the other side of the trailer... Today's load was a 19' wide heavy harrow with tongue removed sideways on the trailer, was still 10' wide load at the tongue but didn't move...
